The transporters beams fade out and the team, along with some advanced gear in the form on engineering kits, find themselves in what could only be the Yimaan Ark Ship's engineering center. Two Yimaan's are waiting, though they are roughly forty feet away. When the team materializes the two Yimaans begin to walk over to the Starfleet officers. The room is rather large, dotted with consoles, storage racks, readout screens and something that is clearly a warp core, but clearly nothing like those found on Starfleet vessels. The floor is bare metal, and in places littered with parts from repairs.
Idrani takes a quick glance around to get her bearings. The Andorian woman then puts on her best diplomatic smile, saying to the approaching Yimaans. "Greetings. I am Lieutenant Jaylas Idrani of the Federation Station S419. Thank you for this opportunity for mutual benefit."
Jel nods as Idrani completes her greeting, introducing himself afterwards. "I'm Chief Jel," he says, a smile on his face.
Payne straightens his uniform after rematarializing in an unneccesary habit. He listens with interest as Lt. Idrani makes contact, remaining quiet at the moment.
Kryn Endilev rematerializes along with the rest of the group, but instead of smiling and waving or doing anything immediately social, he turns around and uses the other Andorian as a shield. He slips his tricorder from his belt and quickly conducts a scan of the immediate area.
GAME: Kryn Endilev contests his Personal Equipment/Tricorder vs Routine and Succeeds.
Torven smiles warmly as he approaches the Starfleet group, finally drawing close after a long moment. "Welcome to our home, and thank you for agreeing to this mutual exchange of information and assistance. I am Torven, systems manager here."
Idrani keeps her diplomatic smile on, actually appearing quite relaxed in such a situation. "Allow me to introduce the members of my team. This is Lieutenant Junior Grade Lopez, Lieutenant Junior Grade Endilev, Ensign Payne and Chief Petty officer Jel. Where, do you think, is the best place to begin?" It's their ship; she's letting them take the lead. We're just guests here.
Lopez just tucks away her PADD and pushes her uniform sleeves to halfway up her forearms. With an appraising glance sweeping the large space, and the Yimaan citizens, she nods as her name is ennumerate. "We're eager to get started," she volunteers. "Anything you can tell us about your most urgent requirements, and their parts in your lives here... would be a good beginning."
Kryn Endilev closes the tricorder and slips it back into the holster on his belt. He turns and leans in at Idrani's shoulder to murmur something almost inaudibly, taking advantage of that Andorian hearing. "The quiet one is armed with a ranged stunner and lethal melee device. No immediate threats, ma'am." After his introduction he steps back and smiles politely.
Jel takes the opportunity to take a good look around, glancing at the consoles and parts scattered throughout this room. His gaze eventually falls on the warp core. He stands there silently, watching it with some interest.
Payne glances at Kryn, and almost mimics his intent. He shifts focus to the room, and its inhabitants, accessing the situation for any security concerns of note.
"I do believe that it would be best if we were to, ah, educate you regarding the warp engine that powers our ship," replies Torven, only after politely acknowledging each member of the away team. "That is, unless there is something else aboard the ship that is of interest to you?"
Idrani nods, agreeing. "That would probably be the best place to start. We can relay your educational information to the Engineering teams and work from that point." Her antennae flick, in acknowledgement of Kryn's murmur to her. She does notice the bladed weapon, of course, but does not appear to be overly concerned or threatened by it. She glances toward Lopez and Jel, the more technical minded folk here, "Unless either of you have another suggestion for a starting point?"
"I don't," Jel responds matter-of-factly. "If this is where he wants to start, he probably has a reason." He turns his head to face Lopez. "Sir?" He seems to be deferring to her rank.
Lopez assumes a momentary distant posture, before answering Idrani. "From speaking to our Engineering chief, if there is any damage threatening life support functions, or potential breaches to the hull, it would be good to know before we start flowing major power through the warp drive. But failing those conditions..." Lopez offers a small smile, and a roll of a shoulder, "-we are certainly at the disposal of our hosts... Do, please, educate us?" she directs toward Torven.
. o O Lopez thinks, "Speed isn't going to save this boat against major firepower, particularly if the damage is already bad, and the tech old-- why not ask for improved shielding capability? Do they even have that?"
Torven looks slightly confused for a moment, while regarding Lopez. He composes himself however, before he answers. "The warp system is online and powering the vessel. I'm not sure why you would be concerned about power through that system."
"I'm not an engineer," Endilev begins, interjecting himself into the discussion with a pleasant smile, "More a mission specialist, really, but I think the Lieutenant here is attempting to assess which systems are most critical and of those, which are in need of repair the most. But then, I'm preaching to the choir here, am I right? We just want to make sure that when we start banging on the warp core with hydrospanners, nothing else important explodes."
Lopez answers, following Kryn Endilev's words, "I should explain that I am also not an engineer. My function is generally to get supplies, personnel and information where they are needed for away missions. I assumed prematurely when you said we would be learning about your warp core that we might be doing something involving it... Please continue, and I hope you will forgive my ignorance."
. o O Lopez thinks, "In other words, I'm about as helpful to you as a brick in a bowl of tapioca."
Jel smiles at Torven. "It appears that, at the moment, I am the most qualified engineer among us. Systems engineering is what I'm good at, but I do have a basic grasp of warp drive principles. If you would explain, I'd do my best to understand."
Payne continues his sweep of the area, and ends his gaze on Jel, "I can give you a hand if you need one, Chief." looking finally at Torven with a stoic expression.
Torven glances to Kryn Endilev, frowning some as he does, before returning his attention to Lopez. "All is forgiven." With a general 'come along' type gesture to the whole group, Torven begins to head towards the warp core, such as it is. The second man falls in behind the group. "This is the heart of the ship, extending several decks and providing the power for life support and core systems, and for space travel. The engine is now quite old, and we struggle daily to keep it running smoothly."
Idrani follows along with the tour guide, looking around as Torven points out different things along the way. "What sorts of trouble are you having with it?" she asks.
Jel gets in step with Idrani, trailing her by a few paces. He seems content to listen to Torven for now.
Lopez cants her head as they come along, tilting her head to hear the answer to Idrani's question, adding, "And how old, would you say, is it?"
Kryn Endilev falls into line as well. After his short explanation on pretty much nothing, he stays quiet and lets the more technically inclined do the talking.
Payne makes his way with the group, not saying anything for now. He is positioned next to Jel, simply scanning the room carefully.
Torven frowns again at something said, this time by Idrani. He continues his slow, yet steady pace towards the consoles surrounding the warp core. As the group draws closer its clear that the engine appears deceptively small from a distance, and after closing the sixty off feet to near the thing its now huge. As they finally near it Torven continues. "Our home is several thousand years old, so things have, how shall we say, become a bit worn."
Idrani notes Torven's frown and makes a mental note to avoid comments or questions that may be interpreted as criticism. "Several /thousand/ years? That's amazing!" She keeps her tone soft, but her admiration of such a thing is genuine.
Jel simply nods, deciding to hear Torven out as he takes stock of what's around him.
Lopez settles into the back of the group-- if their cluster of beings can be said to have an objective front and back.
Payne nods, "you all have lived /here/ for 1000's of years, good sir?" in no one in particulars direction, since he is scanning the area. But It could be assumed the question was meant for Torven.
"Several thousand years?" Endilev repeats as a question and follows it with a whistle. "That is amazing. I mean, ignoring the fact that it's managed to last that long, I can't think of any other races we have relationships with who've attained and maintained that level of science for this long. Hell, my people were still whacking potential mates over the head with clubs and and dragging them into caves when you built this thing."
. o O Idrani thinks, "Thousands of years as a spacefaring race. Ah, now I see where they would be insulted by we 'younger races' easily."
Gone are the frowns from before, replaced with a small smile as the Starfleet officers react. "Well, its quite important to maintain this level of technology, or our home would fail. And no, no we have not lived that long. We tend to enjoy assisted longer lives, in that our people sleep for 20 year shifts. While this is our home, we are seeking out a new planet to settle." The universal translators seem to have a little trouble with whatever Torven said before choosing 'sleep' as the translation.
Idrani quirks a snowy brow, "I'm sorry, 'sleep'? That did not translate well."
Payne listens intently, remaining quiet. His face void of any expression as he scans the area again, to his satisfaction, he looks at Torven, waiting for a response.
Kryn Endilev's antennae move about as he turns his head back and forth to take in the sights of the engineering bay. "Sleep?" he asks absently as he focuses in on some non-descript feature. "As in suspended animation?"
Torven starts to say something to Idrani, but when Kryn speaks he cuts off and nods to the Andorian. "Yes, indeed, suspended animation. Much of the population is is sleeping at any given time."
Idrani nods, understanding. "I'd be very curious about your people's social structure, with regard to long periods of suspended animation. But I'm sure, it's not the time or the place. May we take some scans of this area? The data may better facillitate our understanding of how this works."

"Neat," Endilev comments when Torven confirms his guess. "From a purely non-necessary point of view, skipping through time must have a certain appeal."
Jel continues to examine the warp core for a few more moments, seeming quite curious about the mechanics of such a behemoth. He finally turns away and returns his attention to Torven.
Torven nods to Idrani, even as his makes a sweeping motion with his hand. "Please, feel free to learn everything that you. That is the purpose of this visit, after all," he says, before going quiet and watching the officers.
Idrani uses her tricorder to start getting some scan data. She nods to her team to do the same.

Kryn Endilev doesn't remove his tricorder. Likely, there's not much he can learn on the engineering front. So instead he continues to question and comment. "So do you power your entire vessel with this single warp core or do you have supplementary fusion systems. Or for that matter, is this the only matter/antimatter reactor? I've heard of larger designs that incorporate multiple reactor cores."
Payne goes over to Jel, "Got it figured out, chief?" he comments.
Jel draws his tricorder, unfolding it as he steps closer to the warp core. He raises it in the direction of the structure, looking over the readings in front of him.
Torven turns his attention to Kryn Endilev, letting the others go about their business. "We power the vessel's engine and cores systems with the warp core, and supplement that with several generators placed about the ship."
GAME: Jel contests his Personal Equipment/Tricorder vs Moderate and Succeeds.
Idrani looks at her tricorder readings and makes an inaudiable 'hm'. She transmits the readings to LT Nevaren for processing. She can gather the data, but would rather leave it to the Engineers to interpret it. Her antennae stay focused on Torven, listening to the conversation.
Payne watches Jel, attempting to learn from what he is doing.
"Hrm," Jel says as he looks over the readings. He turns to Torven. "Sir. If you don't mind me asking, what's the optimal field strength and energy output for this drive?"
Kryn Endilev nods absently, although apparently still listening. "Fascinating. Some of our vessels use similar designs," he states without giving any details on what those designs are or what ships they might be on. "Very solid foundation."
Torven nods to the Andorian male before turning to Jel. He waves a hand dismissively. "The system is operating very close to optimal levels. Your scans should give you all of that information."

Kryn Endilev reaches his left hand into the pocket of his trousers, but when he comes up with nothing he frowns. "Oh, right," he mutters. So instead of whatever that was, he starts whistling quietly to himself. Since everyone else has their tricorders out, he finally decides to join the gang. Out comes his scanning device and he starts scanning, waving it in pretty much every direction, including Torven's.
Jel turns back toward the warp core, aiming his tricorder at it once again. "Hrm. Interesting," he says as the beeping of the tricorder ensues. "Very interesting. You're right, Mister Torven. My scans did tell me everything I need to know." He folds up the device, placing it in its pouch.
GAME: Kryn Endilev contests his Personal Equipment/Tricorder vs Moderate and Fails.
Payne looks at Torven, and then Jel, His face lights up with interest, "Something interesting?" he asks, to nobody in particular.
"Now that you've had a chance to examine our systems in detail," begins the Yimann, "I am curious what changes you would make to counter the .. ah .. trouble we've been having with the wear on the systems?" Torven remains where he is, simply watching and questioning the officers.
Idrani finishes transmitting her findings from her tricorder. "Well, we do have some raw data here and your system is quite impressive. A few thousand years of operation is going to cause some wear and tear, of course. I think we will need to go over this data with our Chief Engineer in more detail before we can make much in the way of recommendations." She gives a glance to Lopez and Jel, the more engineering-minded officers, to see if they have any additional comments.
Kryn Endilev closes his tricorder and puts it away once more. He too looks at the engineering personnel and waits for an answer.
. o O Idrani thinks, "How do you politely tell them that a lot of their systems are falling apart? And how will they react to that information?"
Payne waits listening, trying to learn anything he can from the sayings and going on at the moment.
Jel shakes his head slowly as the smile disappears from his face. "It's too early to say, really. There are still missing pieces to the puzzle. Starfleet believes in the preservation of life above all else," he says, stepping one leg onto a nearby crate as he starts to go through his speech, "and believe me, we want to help you, but there's only so much we can do from tricorder scans and guesswork. I may not be an engineer, but I'm an avid pilot. I recognize this damage, and I know that it's causing your warp core to operate well below where you need it to be." He smiles at Torven. "If we are to offer you the technical advice you need, it would very, very useful if you told us exactly what has been going on."
Torven frowns a little at first, then more as he listens to Jel's speech. Torven, however, doesn't answer, or even say a thing. No, instead its the quiet 'security' guard in the rear who speaks up. "The damage you speak of, it was suffered after the Revolution, when the Aristocrats tried to retake the ship."
Idrani inclines her head. "The Revolution?" she asks gently, listening. Her curiousity is piqued. A new dimension to this.
Payne raises a brow of curiosity as well, keeping a glance at the security guard in the rear.
Kryn Endilev looks over his shoulder at Idrani and takes a step back. Casually, he switches over to Andorian. He says in Andorian, "Per my diplomatic briefing, there was a revolution approximately 40 years ago in which the aristocratic dynasty which had ruled for some period was overthrown and replaced by a meritocracy. Nobility is not allowed on the ark ship and the crown prince, or what would be if his family was still in charge, lives in exile among the Ferengi it seems."
"I see," Jel says, nodding as he steps off the crate. "And you've been unable to get your warp core up to working order after all these years?"
Torven continues to remain silent, and the Yimaan in the rear begins to answer, before looking back and forth between Idrani and Kryn Endilev.
Idrani gives the two Yimaan a depreciating smile, "Lieutenant Endilev was explaining what he knows of your cultural history. Though our technology does involve translating languages, it is sometimes easier to express oneself in one's native tongue. Are you familiar with the universal translator technology? It is something that we freely share with new cultures, during peaceful exchanges."
Jel lets out a slow breath. "Forty years. In forty years, a ship of this size with its manpower could have built the replacement components by hand," Jel walks over to one of the stacks of parts here, picking up a loose piece and looking it over. He turns to look directly at Torven. "Is that all you can say?"
Kryn Endilev switches back to standard and lifts a hand to point a finger at his ear. "Goes right in there. Real time translation, very useful in my line of work. But as the Lieutenant said, all it can do is translate for you. It can't give you the words you need to express yourself sometimes. My apologies."
For his part Torven begins to bristle at Jel's comments, but a raised hand from the unnamed man stops him, and makes it clear who is really in charge between the two. The unnamed man looks first to Idrani. "He have that technology. Within a few moments it would understand your language." Then he turns to Jel, ans says, "Yes, that is all we can say. Knowledge has become a rather... valuable commodity."
Idrani turns her attention to the second Yimaan, choosing to speak frankly. "Our initial scans are showing some significant problems with your fusion generators and some of your other systems are likely have problems as well. We'll need a complete Engineering workup to come back with some recommendations, as I said, but any other relevant information you have, would be appreciated. I would also suggest a good look at your suspended animation systems, as you have a large number of your population depending on them."
"Very well," Jel says to the second Yimaan. "I'll drop it at that. Starfleet makes a point of not interfering with the internal affairs of others, and it sounds like you want to keep your secrets internal." He pauses. "No matter the cost. I can respect that. You probably have good reason. At the very least, though, I would ask that you allow your engineers to submit a detailed damage report. Believe me. Starfleet is only here to help."
Torven smiles faintly to Jel. "I do believe that you misunderstood me. We are not choosing to keep engineering secrets from you. In order to do so, we would need to actually know the secrets ourselves. As we don't know them, we couldn't share them."
Vatendar smiles faintly to Jel. "I do believe that you misunderstood me. We are not choosing to keep engineering secrets from you. In order to do so, we would need to actually know the secrets ourselves. As we don't know them, we couldn't share them."
Idrani considers this information, then nods slowly. "And the knowledge about how your systems work and how to maintain them?"
"I don't think you're hiding engineering secrets. I do think there's more than meets the eye here." Jel shakes his head, keeping a smile on his face. "Lets just be honest. You're not here to provide physical security. You know Starfleet isn't that kind of threat. You're here to protect information." He shrugs. "In any case, whether I'm right or wrong, I think we've done about all we can for you with what we have on hand. I sincerely wish you luck on your journey."
Kryn Endilev clears his throat at this point. "Go easy, Chief," he says gently. "If they were aboard our ship we'd be hording our classified material as well." Then to Idrani, "Ma'am? Where do we go from here?"
Its about then that what would be called the main doors open and into the four stride four more officer types, clearly the latter three lead by the first one. They head purposefully towards the Starfleet officers, and as they close its clear they are heading towards Jel in particular. The man who last spoke, frowns suddenly, and looks to Jel. "I am sorry."
Idrani frowns, stepping forward to interpose herself between her CPO and the approaching uniformed people. "Can I help you?" she asks softly. Although her posture and tone are not particularly aggressive, it's equally obvious that whoever deals with the team goes through the team leader.
Kryn Endilev rather undiplomatically scratches himself as he moves off to the side. While Idrani does some more talking, the other Andorian pulls his hand away from himself, and a pocket on his belt, and does some more staring at the warp core.
Jel looks down at the deck for a few moments before looking up at the lead security man with a smile. He doesn't seem the least bit surprised. "Don't be. I should have known better," is all he says.
GAME: Kryn Endilev spends a courage point.
Payne begins to circle around to the other side of the group, keeping an eye on the Yimmaans. He doesn't say anything, just scans the room. Both for any concerns, and to familiarize himself with their... lifestyle.

The four continue on their path. The lead one steps up to Idrani and addresses her. "No, you can not. Step do not interfere with the arrest," he says to her. Two of the others move to simply walk around her while she and the first one speak. The fourth and last pauses, glancing towards Kryn for a moment. The still unnamed man, the one who was speaking with Jel, says, "You shouldn't interfere. I do not believe he will be hurt."

Idrani frowns, "Why is he being arrested?" Her fingers move to her combadge, but she wants to hear the charge before she calls it in.
"Sir," Jel says to Idrani, holding up a hand. "I think I should go with them, at least for now. We are compelled to respect their laws on their soil, and this is the closest thing they have to a home."
Kryn Endilev keeps his right hand in a fist around whatever he's holding, but doesn't say anything. Banking on unlikeliness of the Yimman universal translators having heard this next language he says, He says in Romulan, "Ensign, heavy stun, wide spread, only on my mark. Chief, be quiet. I'm opening a channel to the Thomas Paine. On your orders, Lieutenant." He lifts his free hand and double taps his commbadge, but says nothing else.

The Romulan orders distract the guards, and the one nearest to Kryn turns to level a stare at him, but that's all. The one speaking to Idrani says, "He has questioned the Revolution and the truths we hold, which is a crime here." The other two flank Jel, though neither wield a weapon or grab him.
Idrani changes to yet another language, just in case their translators are /really/ good. She says in Jem'Hadar, "Stand down, everyone. Chief Jel is right. They can arrest him for crimes against their people, on their home soil." She looks back to the guards, changing back to Federation Standard.
Idrani nods, steps aside, "Very well. The Federation recognizes your people's soverignty to enforce your own laws in your own nation. Will he be allowed to have legal counsel? I will also have to call this in to my superior officer. I'm sure this is a misunderstanding and can be resolved peacefully in short order." Her antennae flick, keeping focused on her subordinants, Endilev in particular because she knows his penchant for aggression.
"The hell it is," Endilev says in Standard. "The Articles of Federation recognize free speech. We'd give asylum to someone being persecuted for speaking their mind. I recommend you get Commander Ghoerv on the line and let him decide." And all the while, ideally, his commbadge is transmitting this.
Jel speaks up a little louder. "Everyone stand down. On both sides. There's no need to escalate this situation. The regulations are clear," he says, turning to Kryn, "and our laws don't apply here, lieutenant." He face the leader of the security men, his voice resuming its normal tone. "I'm coming with you."
Idrani's com badge chirrups. "Commander Ghorev to Lieutenant Idrani."
Idrani taps her com badge. "Lieutenant Idrani here."
Payne keeps his hand at his side, idly, and listens to Endilev. He nods in agreement, but at the same time, doesn't take any action either. As that was the order given from the highest ranking officer at the moment. He waits paitently as Ghorev speaks over the com channel.
Over Idrani's com badge, Ghorev says, "I have been asked to relay that Lieutenant Nevaren continues to be delayed in transit. That being the case, since you remain ranking officer on your part of the detail, you receive the scheduled check-in hail." His voice is even, crisp. "Situation normal?"
Into her com badge, Idrani says, "As a matter of fact no, sir. I was about to hail you. The authorities here are arresting Chief Petty Officer Jel for asking questions related to their Revolution, which is evidentally against the laws of these people."
The Yimaans for their part seem to be comfortable waiting on the communication between Ghorev and Idrnai.
Over Idrani's com badge, Ghorev says, "I see." A pause. "There has been no actual violence, I hope?"
Kryn Endilev keeps his eye on Jel and the two officers flanking him. "Chief, this is an order. If I hear one more word, I'll be the one arresting you. Zip it."
Into her com badge, Idrani shoots a pointed gaze at Endilev, "That's correct, sir. I've instructed Chief Jel to comply and we will sort this matter out through proper legal channels."
Over Idrani's com badge, Ghorev says, "Excellent, but there is little time to detract from the matter for which your team was sent. I will discuss matters with the Yimaan Authorities. You and your team continue the work, and my thanks to you and Mister Endilev for keeping a secure lid on the situation and not letting it escalate to needless violence."
Into her com badge, Idrani says, "Acknowledged, sir. Idrani, out."
Idrani taps her com badge and terminates transmission.
. o O Kryn Endilev thinks, "I could have taken them."
Idrani finishes her combadge conversation and turns to address Endilev. She speaks Graalen in a soft, but firm tone. She says in Andorian, "Mister Endilev, you will stand down and you will stand down right now. Am I in any way being unclear?"

"Let's hope that while we're respecting their laws, their laws don't call for a speedy firing squad, hmm, ma'am?" Endilev replies in the same language, the ma'am sounding rather out of place given his tone. Without revealing what he had in his hand, but obviously putting something away, he orders in Standard. "Stand down, Ensign."
Jel lets out another slow breath, seeming relieved. He nods at Kryn. "If they do, sir, I'll accept that consequence." He smiles at the security men, gesturing toward the door. "Lead the way."

The guard standing before Idrani nods to her, before turning to settle his gaze on Kryn Endilev. "We do not use firing squads, much less speedy ones, nor do we use any other form lethal punishment. Payne waits paitently for Jel to be taken, he makes his way over to Idrani to pass time. Stopping rather close to her He remains silent until Jel is taken.

Idrani looks back at the others, "Are there more areas you wish for us to see?" She asks their escort.
Jel is close to the door when he stops. He turns and looks at Vatendar. "You know," he says, looking down at the deck, chuckling a bit. "For some reason, I am reminded of a story from the history of my own planet." He nods, as if something is beginning to become clear. "It's a tale not unlike this one. A royal family deposed, replaced by a chosen government. With that chosen government, the true ruler was the ideals of the people, and those ideals ruled absolute."
Kryn Endilev's antennae follow Jel as he continues to talk on his way to wherever he's going. "Wow," he says. "Just...Wow. It's like he's digging for petroleum."
The guards pause when Jel does, one turning back to him to smile slightly. "If you believe so, however we are ruled by a meritocracy, not by absolute ideals." Torven turns to Idrani and says, "I though that your scans would have the nessecary information."
Idrani nods, raking her fingers through her hair. "I think it's safe to say that you're looking at a long term problem. We can probably figure out how to fix your vessel. The long term part involves teaching you to fix it."
"Wait a minute. That's the secret then, isn't it?" Jel says. "You're not hiding anything at all. You're hiding exactly nothing. The fact that you don't have the slightest idea about how to run this ship, much less fix it. That's why your engineer couldn't give us any technical specifications." He looks at them, narrowing his eyes. "And that's the real reason you're arresting me, isn't it?"
Kryn Endilev lifts his left hand and wipes it down over his mouth and chin. Gone is the joviality from before. His current demeanor is one of frustration. He says in Andorian, "Lieutenant, please, for all our sakes, order him to be quiet until he at least has counsel."
The two guards look to each other, then to Vatendar. "What have you been telling them?" one asks, while the other turns his attention to Jel. "You were to come here and assists us, not to pry into the Revolution or to question how well we can manage our ship."
Payne nods, seemingly, he agrees with Jel, "smart kid." He murmurs.
Payne leans in to whisper something to Idrani.
Payne whispers to Idrani, "Doesn't it strike you as odd, that they were able to get here so quickly, after Jel disagreed with Vatendar, and its odd that Vatendar is getting taken too. Maybe what he said to Jel was really important, you know about the Revolution, and the Aristocrats trying to take the ship?"
Idrani shakes her head. "He's said nothing. The evidence is right here in front of us. Your ship can't sustain itself much longer. The reason that he can't tell us anything about how these systems were damaged or exactly how they work is because he doesn't know. We still want to help you." She says the latter softly, sincerely. "We need to get a complete stem-to-stern workup of this vessel and all of its systems, run full diagnostics to find out exactly what is wrong. I'm going to ask you again about the status of your suspended animation system. Is it running properly? Has there been any ill effects on those that have been awakened?"
GAME: Kryn Endilev contests his Intellect/Perception vs Routine and Succeeds.
Kryn Endilev exhales and presses his lips together for a moment. Then he continues, He says in Andorian, "Doesn't matter what's right in front of us, ma'am. It matters how they feel about us and about the situation. We can be as helpful and naive as we want, but this is a touchy subject and they're getting really touchy. They've got pride and we're pissing on it. How about I mention I think they don't even know how to steer this ship? That I think they couldn't avoid Klingon space if they wanted too. You think they'll come over hear and slap me on the back and offer me a beer?"
Before the guards can finish escorting Jel and Vatendar out of the engineering area the main doors open again and an official looking man strides in, flanked by two guards. "As the repairs haven't even been begun yet, I'm assuming that they won't be. At least not by this group," he says in a loud voice once barely through the doors. "You may leave our ship now. If you do so immediately and without arguments then charges will be dropped against this officer," he says, pointing to Jel.
Idrani nods to the official-looking gentlemen. "That is correct. We can relay the data we've collected to our Engineering teams and they can make their recommendations. We can also include instruction as to our Engineering processes if you like. We appreciate your understanding and releasing CPO Jel. Thank you for this opportunity." She speaks coolly, professionally.
The exit Airlock Access sparkles as a forcefield disengages.
"It was a pleasure making your acquaintances, gentlemen," Endilev states, well, diplomatically. He waits for Idrani to lead the way out.
The Yimaan official nods to Idrani and gestures for Jel to be freed. "It is a shame that things did not work out more advantageously," he says simply. "Please feel free to contact your ship."
Idrani nods. "It is a shame. But I do not think this is a lost cause. You have an opportunity here and I hope that you choose to take it."
Idrani hits her combadge. "Idrani to Thomas Paine. Four to beam out."
As the away team gathers themselves together again Jel is realised by the guards and allowed to rejoin his team. In the background one guard can be seen leading Vatendar out of the engineering room, still clearly under arrest. As soon as the team is assembled the transporter beams surround them, and the Yimaan Ark Ship fades from view, soon to be replaced by the Thomas Paine's transporter room.
