It's a quiet night in the Shuttlebay this evening. Aside from the one or two shuttle techs milling about the place is almost deserted. That is until Lt. Nevaren steps through the doors, humming to himself. One of the techs snap to attention as the Assistant Chief approaches, but the albino chuckles and just waves it aside. The tech, a Bolian, nods once and tries to relax. "What can we help you with this everning sir?" he asks, a bit nervous that he is all alone with the superior officer.

Nevaren grins and holds up his tool kit. "I picked up some anomalous readings from Panel d-23." he says, pointing the wall on the other side of what appears to be a Klingon Shuttle that is docked here. "Everyone else was busy so I thought I'd come down and get my hands dirty."

The Bolian Tech nods, looking a bit relieved. "Of course, sir. If you need any help just call for me. I'll be on this deck."

Nevaren nods and, dismissing the Technician and waltzing around the Klingon Shuttle. As he approaches the panel, clearly marked d-23, he raises an eyebrow as he sees it is partly askew. "Damned Klingon Pilots." he fumes to himself, whipping out his tricorder. He opens the panel and quickly scans the contents. "They really need to learn to park better.. I swear I...." he stops as he catches a glance of something small and cylindrical attached to a plasma main. He doesn't have to scan it to realize what it is. As he fumbles for his tools the tricorder starts beeping loudly. The halfbreed curses and jumps as hard as he can backwards.. But not fast enough.. There is a loud *Woomph* as a brilliant flaming light leaps out of the panel, lifting the albino off the floor and driving him hard against the klingon shuttle's bulkhead.

Journey goes home.

Journey has left.

The yellow alert lights flash throughout the station.

Just as fast as the Plasma conduit was burst open, spilling out a plasmatic wave of bright searing force, the combination of the fire supression forecefield system and the blowback of rest of the concussive force back into the conduit has snuffed all but the snalest of plasma flames. Smoke that escaped with the initial blast is quickly sucked up by the enviromental system, filtering out all harmfull toxins. Some plasma fire /still/ burns in the forcefield covered hole, but only a small amount.. Easily managable. But not by Nevaren. The albino lays with his back against the klingon shuttle, the front of his entire upper uniform almost singed off. His pale and scarred chest, neck, and face are now also covered in sickening blackish-green blisters and most of his once white hair now cinders. Smoke curls from his still breathing body. He's alive, But unconcious.

Poole steps into the shuttle bay, the doors clanging shut behind her.

Poole comes into view wielding a Type I Phaser.

Poole has arrived.

Caeli steps into the shuttle bay, the doors clanging shut behind him.

Caeli has arrived.

Dakin steps into the shuttle bay, the doors clanging shut behind him.

Dakin has arrived.

Vimes steps into the shuttle bay, the doors clanging shut behind him.

Vimes has arrived.

Treal steps into the shuttle bay, the doors clanging shut behind her.

Treal has arrived.

Takamura steps into the shuttle bay, the doors clanging shut behind him.

Takamura has arrived.

Dakin wields his Type II Phaser.

Caeli wields his Type II Phaser.

Vimes comes in through the shuttle bay's doors behind Dakin, immediately stepping to the right side of the threshold and taking a defensive position with phaser drawn while assessing the situation at hand.

To far side of the shuttlebay, coming from the bay wall just around what looks to be a Klingon Shuttle, can be seen the vanishing contrails of toxic smoke as it is sucked up by the Enviromental Systems. There is a purfectly round hole in the bulkhead, exposing cindered and still smoldering plasma and energy conduits. The whole, and what is left of the fire, is being contained by a Fire Suppression Forecfield. On the floor, back against the Klingon shuttle, is an umoving figure. The front of his entire upper uniform has been burned off, expiosing what was once scarred and pale flesh but which is now covered in sickening blackish-green blisters and long 2nd and 3rd degree burns. The Burns travel up his neck and face, down his arms.. His hands in particular look like meat. Most of his once white hair now cinders, eyebrows non existance. It's Nevaren. Smoke curls from his still breathing body. He's alive, But unconcious.

Treal wields her Type II Phaser.

Takamura wields his Type II Phaser.

Vimes wields his Type II Phaser.

Dakin eyes the unconscious figure and those eyes go wide. "Prophets guide us, no..." He then slaps his commbadge.

Dakin taps his comm badge, "Lieutenant Dakin to Infirmary."

Over Dakin's comm badge a voice answers, "Ensign Talesin here."

Poole enters first. Once she heard who was down here that was an inevitability. Once she has a bead on him she sprints across the shuttlebay, pumping those little legs of hers as fast as she can. "Nevaren!" comes a shrill desperate cry from the blonde.

Into his comm badge, Dakin says, "Medical emergency in the infirmary! Lt. Nevaren is down and badly injured! Requesting medical team stat!"

Treal swings in behind the others, position opposite of Vimes. Her weapon held at the ready, she gives a cursory glance at the unconscious figure, then turns her attention to the rest of the bay.

Into his comm badge, Dakin says, "OOC: Shuttlebay, not infirmary"

Caeli follows along after Poole, not at a sprint but at a brisk jog, trailing along behind with narrowed eyes.

Takamura spots the wounded Engineer and his medical corpsman instincts kick in. Holstering his phaser, he dashes over to Nevaren to attempt to assist the man.

From Dakin's comm badge, Talesin says, "We're already on our way, sir, Dr. Vala should be there momentarily, I'm on my way with the medical kits. Talesin out."

Dakin's comm badge ends its transmission.

. o O Poole thinks "Oh god no... Prophets... Nevaren... don't die, don't die. Please don't die. Don't leave me."

Dakin breaks into a dead run, whispering prayers of aid for his fallen comrade as he approaches.

Takamura lowers his weapons.

Dakin lowers his weapons.

Poole lowers her weapons.

Takamura pulls out his tricorder as he kneels beside the fallen engineer.

Poole's comm badge chirrups, and a voice says, "Ensign Va'tol to Lt Commander Poole."

Dakin taps his comm badge, "Lieutenant Dakin to Lieutenant Havaris."

<CONTEST> Takamura contests his Personal Equipment (Tricorder) skill vs a difficulty of Routine and Succeeds!

Caeli comes up to the shuttle, and on seeing Nevaren being tended to, raises his weapon again to investigate the offending craft.

Nevaren just continues to lie there, only propped up by the shuttle, seemingly dead. no.. he /unconcious/...to the world. The hole where the panel wa sputters as small sparks and plasma flames lick at the forcefield. Small fragments of smoldering metal are imbedded in the shuttle's hull behind and above the albino.

With Nevaren being tended to, Vimes looks to Treal and signals for her to cover him while he approaches the shuttle that has Caeli's attention at the moment, moving towards it with his phaser still raised in readiness.

Poole skins her knees as she comes to a sliding halt on the floor, putting her fingers to an artery where she's always felt his heartbeat before. "Please.. Please don't die.. Please.. You promised.. I'm sorry.. Please.. I am sorry..." Her combadge goes unanswered.

Poole's comm badge ends its transmission.

As he waits for response from Ops, Dakin joins Vimes in the examination of the damaged shuttle.

While the others rush to the side of the fallen officer, Treal remains cautious. Her eyes sweep over the other vessels in the bay, then back towards the Klingon shuttlecraft. Not running, though not taking a casual stroll, either, she begins to work her way towards it, to keep an eye on her fellow security officers.

. o O Dakin thinks "Mind on the job, Rann... don't think about Nev lying there... concentrate on finding how, why, and who..."

Caeli steps around to the access hatch of the shuttle, and motions to the other side of the door. Vimes, Treal, doesn't matter. He looks to Dakin expectantly, weapon at the ready.

Takamura continues his scans, breathing a sigh of relief. Glancing over to Poole, he consoles her. "He's alive, Gwen. Just a little beat up. RIght now, I can only make him comfortable until the medical teams arrive with their equipment."

Over Dakin's comm badge a voice answers, "Lieutenant Havaris here."

Dakin nods to Caeli firmly as he answers Havaris.

Vimes takes the position on the other side of the door across from Caeli, nodding and waiting as he looks to Dakin while tapping his combadge...

Vimes taps his comm badge, "Lieutenant JG Vimes to Lieutenant JG Harris."

Over Vimes's comm badge a voice answers, "Lieutenant JG Harris here."

Into his comm badge, Dakin says, "Stand by, Kusto."

Caeli lifts fingers to attempt to open the shuttle, motioning the others clear of the door as he does.

Dakin lifts his phaser, aiming it at whatever emerges from the shuttle.

Into his comm badge, Vimes says, "Lt. Harris, we saw some smoke being sucked up into the vents when we got in here. What is that stuff?"

From Vimes's comm badge, Harris is silent for a moment. "I... don't know. Stand by."

Strangly, the klingon shuttle /isn't/ locked down. The Hatch slides upwards, revealing the cramped interior of an obviousy klingon designed vessel. Harsh sharp corners. Uncomfortable seats.. It really reeks of klingons spending way too much time in it. Other then that it seems deserted. Except for an overturned emergency survival caches, it contents spilled on the shuttles floor.

"Heartbeat..." Poole manages to Takamura, the stress making her go monosyllabic. There are tears in her eyes. "Move him? Not safe." She places her hand gingerly into one of Nevaren's.

Half an eye kept on the others as they enter the shuttle, Treal's remaining attention is on the hole in the wall. Frowning, she pulls out her tricorder to scan over it, to see if she can get any preliminary information.

The door chime sounds from the direction of Out.

. o O Caeli thinks "Whatever you are, if you hurt Nev, I'm going to beat the Bird's mercy out of you."

Dakin looks to his officers, saying in a low voice, "Someone give me a tricorder scan."

<CONTEST> Treal contests her Personal Equipment (Tricorder) skill vs a difficulty of Moderate and Fails!

Vimes reveals his Tricorder.

<CONTEST> Vimes contests his Personal Equipment (Tricorder) skill vs a difficulty of Moderate and Succeeds!

From Vimes's comm badge, Harris says, "Lieutenant, what you've got there is plasmatic residue from the EPS system, along with trace particulates of magnesium, thermite, along with a laundry list of chemicals."

Into his comm badge, Vimes says, "Quite the stew then, right? Thank-you. Vimes, out."

. o O Treal thinks "A bomb?"

Takamura nods to Poole. "Yes, he has a pulse. I think that's the medical team at the door. I'm going to let them in, alright?" He then looks over to Dakin to see if it is safe to let them in.

Dakin nods almost impatiently to Takamura, then looks to Vimes for his scan results.

Treal frowns deeply, and growls low. "My readings aren't.. clear. But I can tell it wasn't a failing in the station's conduits," she says distractedly. "There's fragments of some kind of metal, or something, embedded in the bulkhead. The rupture in the EPS is interfering with my tricorder." The Betazoid looks over towards Dakin with an arched brow, and a knowing look.

Vimes reaches up and taps his comm badge, ending transmission.

Takamura says into Out comm, "If that's the Medical team, come in. We have a man down."

Sharei steps into the shuttle bay, the doors clanging shut behind him.

Sharei has arrived.

Vala steps into the shuttle bay, the doors clanging shut behind her.

Vala has arrived.

Jameson steps into the shuttle bay, the doors clanging shut behind him.

Jameson has arrived.

Dakin looks over to Treal. "If it's safe, try to get a metal sample for the lab."

Into his comm badge, Dakin says, "Dakin here, Ops. Lt. Nevaren is down. He's alive but badly burned. Medical team's just arrived and we're trying to determine the exact cause of the explosion."

Vimes furrows his brow as he looks towards Caeli and Dakin, "This shuttle is empty, gentlemen. I mean, utterly empty. No personal effects. Oldest heat signature is over three hours old."

Talesin steps into the shuttle bay, the doors clanging shut behind him.

Talesin has arrived.

Takamura kneels beside the wounde patient with Poole next to them. The Asian RRT officer looks over to the medics as they approach. "I have tricorder readings of his vitals and injuries. I can transfer the information to you."

From Dakin's comm badge, Havaris says, "Understood, Rann. Once you have that room secure, I want Medical on top of Nevaren. We can arrange a site-to-site if you think it's worth the risk. How's our structural integrity down there? Any damage?"

Poole is at Nevaren, the wounded man's, side, gripping one of his hands. She turns and looks towards the doors, waving the medical team over frantically... then just as suddenly her hand drops to her side again, eyes widening just a little as she looks down upon Nevaren.

Sharei comes making his way into the shuttle bay, leading the medical team. He has his Bag of Nursely Goodness slung over one shoulder, and he looks around. Immediately, he makes a beeline for Nevaren. He slings down the Nursely Bag, digging around for cold compresses and thermal blankets. "Keth, hold these over the burns," he instructs, fumbling for his medical tricorder.

Treal nods to Dakin, and before she indicates the shuttle. "Someone had to fly it," she notes quietly, before turning towards the bulkhead. "Hmm.. Seems.." she begins, looking towards the shuttle, then back. "Okay.. there's more of this metal in the shuttle, and.." the woman looks down to Nevaren, "Probably in him." She looks to Dakin, "Should I attempt to collect samples from the bulkhead, and shuttle, or will the pieces that medical gets, be sufficient?"

Jameson comes in just after Ensign Sharei. He has a medkit in his hand and quickly scans the area, trying to determin just exactly what kind of situation he's getting into. As he sees that there are no monsters or battles taking place he does relax a little, and heads over in the direction of Nevaren at a quickstep.

. o O Poole thinks "I was supposed to meet you today... and tell you. ... they knew."

Vimes steps away from the shuttle and over towards the damage on the shuttle bay's wall, checking the readings on his tricorder again while clucking his tongue.

Vala follows Sharei and Jameson in, ensuring the way is clear of hazards as she makes her way over to the direction of Nevaren, she kneels near his head

Into his comm badge, Dakin says, "There's a hole in the bulkhead... nothing that threatens us losing atmosphere, but we do have a ruptured EPS conduit that'll need locking down. As far as Nev being movable, that's more Medical's call than mine, but they're on top of it. I recommend full lockdown till we can determine what exactly happened here."

Talesin comes in last, pushing the high tech stretcher along. That is, if there isn't horrible damage all over the place to prevent using it, anyway.

<CONTEST> Vimes contests his Personal Equipment (Tricorder) skill vs a difficulty of Moderate and Fails!

From Dakin's comm badge, Havaris says, "Understood. We're under a full security lockdown per your advisement, Lieutenant. I will pass it along to Novairen. Havaris out."

<CONTEST> Sharei contests his Personal Equipment (Medical Tricorder) skill vs a difficulty of Routine and Succeeds!

Dakin's comm badge ends its transmission.

Dakin says to Treal, "Anything you can get however you can, Ensign, but get it to the lab yesterday."

Vimes mutters something under his breath as he shakes his head, "I can't get any definite readings, but like Ensign Treal, I have to concur with what she said. No fault in the station conduits. Traces of metal in the bulkhead. The EPS rupture is causing distortion in my scan."

Sharei's eyes narrow as he sweeps the sensor probe over Nevaren's body. "I'm reading second and third degree burns over the upper, central, and dorsal torso area. Hands, too. Minor tissue damage to the spleen." The tricorder gives an angry-sounding chirp as the probe sweeps over Nevaren's head, and Dax peers at it. "What in the world...?" he mutters.

Vala looks up to Sharei, "He's breathing shallowly, we need to give him oxygen considering the circumstances."

Dakin examines the bulkhead rupture while not getting in the way of the medics. Nodding to Vimes and Treal, "Contact Ops and have a bypass rigged per my advisement. I want to know what caused this man's injury, and I want to know now."

Poole snaps a look up at Sharei, clearly the one with the short fuse tonight. "/What/?" Though she keeps out of the way of the doctors, she does not leave Nevaren's side completely.

Vimes nods and taps his badge again...

"Understood, Sir," the Betazoid says to Dakin, and turns to the bulkhead, to try and collect an ample supply of the unknown material, for later inspection. Treal chews her lower lip, occassionally letting her eyes wander away over the rest of the bay, trying to stay alert.

Vimes taps his comm badge, "Lieutenant JG Vimes to Lieutenant Havaris."

Sharei nods his head, clicking closed his tricorder. "We need to move him. He needs immediate dermal regeneration. And I want to run a level three scan on his eyes. My tricorder just went crazy. He's got magnesium flecks embedded in his skin, too." He taps his combadge. "Ensign Sharei to infirmary. Prep biobed three to receive a burn patient. I want a saline bath, debriding field, and dermal regenerators charged and on line. And load up 25 ccs of hesperoxidine, just in case."

Still looking up to Sharei, the Trill Doctor says, "Also have them prepare to sedate him so we can intebate and protect his airway"

Over Vimes's comm badge a voice answers, "Lieutenant Havaris here."

Jameson nods to Vala at that. Though with all the 'real' doctors about, he's kind of superfluous. He instead to tends to what he knows best and moves to Poole's side. "Sir, he'll be fine. The med team is doing all they can for him, and I'm quite certain that their best is quite a lot." He goes on, "If you want to help him now, the best thing you can do is keep calm, and let the doctors do their job." He's very polite about it, his voice full of compassion.

The door opens to admit Caeli, whose quick steps carry him into the shuttle and allow him a few moments of inspection. "Nothing," he calls back. "Empty. But the warp core is online."

Takamura looks over to Sharei. "Want my help getting him on the stretcher?" Otherwise, the RRT officer stays out of the way of those with more medical training than him.

Into his comm badge, Vimes says, "Sir, Lieutenant Dakin is requesting a bypass to be rigged up down here in the shuttle bay to help us assess what caused this explosion."

Talesin manages to get the bulky piece of machinery over to the patient with only minor problems. Nevermind that it's designed for two people to steer. Keth seems to be managing it...

GAME: Poole spends a courage point.

Dakin snaps his head to Caeli. "Find out who owns this ship, in case we need to haul the owner in."

Caeli grumbles something about Klingon control panels. "Where's Nathan when you need him..." and sets about looking up the registry.

Vimes looks at both Caeli and Dakin, "I can request the information right now, sir. See what the manifest records have on it."

Vala looks to the other medics, "Alright, let's get him on a streatcher and to the infirmary."

Sharei nods. "That's what the hesperoxidine's for," he says. He glances at Takamura and shakes his head. "Thanks, but we've got it covered." Then, he looks to Talesin. "Okay, Keth. Let's get him on that stretcher. I don't want to risk a site-to-site without knowing what's up with his eyes."

Dakin turns to Vimes and nods. "Do it." He then splits his attention between the fallen Nevaren and the bulkhead rupture.

Poole looks about ready to jump all over Jameson for even suggesting that she leave Nevaren's immediate presence. It's a look of desperate passion in her eyes. Jameson can't help but see it, given his front stage view. There's an internal struggle and finally she lets go of Nevaren's hand gently, pushing herself to her feet and forcing herself to stand to the side, crossing her arms loosely about her. "If you do not tell me what is going on... every step of the way..." It's not even a threat any more. Poole's gone docile.

Caeli calls back, "Hang on. I think I've got it." The tricorder is flipped open, and promptly interfaced with the shuttle.

<CONTEST> Poole (claiming advantage) contests her Presence (Willpower) skill vs a difficulty of Difficult and Fails!

Takamura nods back to Sharei, as he slips over towards Poole. With a concerned, but supportive look, Tak whispers to her.

Talesin clears the extra medkit off the stretcher, slinging it over one shoulder, crouching on the other side of Nevaren. "Dr. Vala, we could use your help." neither of the men are exactly strapping lads, after all.

Takamura whispers to Poole, "Gwen, do you want me to accompany you up to the infirmary with him? I can let you know what I found out with my scans."

Vala still kneels to monitor the patient's breathing, she says, "I am right here Keth..." she considers for a moment, "Do we have another streatcher?"

"It originated here, in the conduit," Treal says to Dakin. "Purposefully confined explosion." As if it wasn't obvious. She's collected enough materials for now, and looks to her boss. "Unless there's anything else? I should get these samples to the lab.

. o O Poole thinks "I can't leave him alone. They'll try and finish him off."

Jameson doesn't reach out to touch Poole, though it's obvious that he at first intends to. "It'll be okay. Just remember, right now? He can still hear and feel you likely. At least subconsciously. Keep positive. For him. It's likely that if he can hear and feel you being positive about his recovery, he will be too. And there's no chance that you won't be kept up to date. If I have to run the entire station all night personally, you'll know everything."

Sharei looks at Poole. "Follow along, lieutenant," he says. "You can stay close by. But we need to be able to move around him." Gingerly, he slips his hands under his side of Nevaren. "On three, Keth... one... two... three..." And with that, he lifts. While Talesin may not be a strapping lad, Sharei is certainly fit enough. "What do we need another stretcher for?" he asks. "Is anyone else injured?"

Vala stands with the patient now on the streatcher, she walks over to Sharei

As the the burned albino is lifted and then set on the hoverbed, his blistered lips part and a low groan of pain can be heard. He stirs and, in a fit of pain, sundely sits up. His eyes fly open and they are not the ghostly green they usually are.. There is no pupil.. and there is no white.. both eyes are completely silver.. a dark and tarnished silver but silver nonetheless. "Flare!" he croaks... eyes blinking and greenish tears dripping down his blistered cheeks. He turns his head but isn't looking at anyone. back and forth.. like he can't see.

Vala whispers to Sharei, "I am concerned about Commander Poole, we should watcher her closely, she may faint or worse, I don't think she's doing too well which is why I asked about the streatcher"

Dakin's head snaps to the waking Nevaren, and his eyes widen once he realizes what has happened. "Prophets guide us..."

<CONTEST> Caeli contests his Intellect (Perception) skill vs a difficulty of Moderate and Dramatically Succeeds!

Talesin helps heft Nevaren onto the stretcher, wincing at the groan, helping the others situate him as comfortably as possible. He glances toward Vala and Sharei, "We have others, but managing one is hard enough at the moment, I wouldn't suggest using another." he stands swiftly, getting into the lead position on the stretcher and preparing to guide it out.

Caeli steps back out of the shuttle. "My tricorder is running the IFF beacon through the manifest now. We should have the name soon."

"Yes... yes," Poole says to Takamura, just before her jaw drops when Nevaren speaks and opens his eyes. If she hadn't been crying before, it comes in a flood now. This isn't some orphan on a war torn planet, or otherwise. It is good she didn't hear all of what Vala said, otherwise that phaser that's in a holster at her waist would be out in about all of two seconds flat.

From Vimes's comm badge, Havaris says, "Understood, Lieutenant. Keep me posted. Havaris out."

Vimes's comm badge ends its transmission.

Dakin says to Treal, "We talking bomb?"

Sharei's eyes go the size of teacups. "Great Goddesses!" he gasps. "Lt. Nevaren, lie _down_!" Of course, it's probably unlikely that Sharei is actually expecting to be heard. But duty takes over, despite his astonishment at Nevaren's suddenly rather unexpected behavior.

Treal glances towards the medics, Nevaran, and Poole briefly before looking back to Dakin. "No other known reason for this to have happened, Sir. That conduit had no reason to blow. Unless it was tampered with, or it was given great assistance in the form of an explosive," she says matter-of-factly, trying to keep her voice from carrying to anyone but Dakin.

Caeli blinks as something clicks. "Rann..." he murmurs, before turning back to the shuttle. "There was an emergency kit in the shuttle. With flares. A bunch of them."

The bosun sounds prior to the PA and terminals carrying the following announcement from Station Security's Lt. Novairen. "Attention: Station 419 is now under a security lockdown. All off-duty and civilian personnel are required to remain in their assigned quarters for the duration of this lockdown. Persons with ships currently docked at the station are required to return to their vessels and remain there. All security teams are to check in with Station Operations for further instructions. That is all."

. o O Treal thinks "Bomb. Sabatoge. Terrorism. Security threat. Yes."

Nevaren is still looking around, mouth working but nothing except the word 'flare' being said over and over again. He is gently set back down, the remains of his upper uniform crumbling away in ashes. "Flare.." he croaks.. not hearing.. not seeing.. his eyes that eerie and unnatural silver colour.

Takamura brings a large arm around Poole's shoulders to give her some emotional support. "It will be alright Gwen. Let's just follow along behind them."

Vala watches the patient who is now sitting up, she calmly says, "We need to get him to the infirmary."

Jameson's jaw comes open as Nevaren sits up. He quickly schools himself back to comforting counselor. He turns his gaze sharp back to Poole. He's no empath, but anyone can see Poole is in pain. "Sir, it's okay. I'll go with you to the infirmary. Just remember, no matter how much it hurts, try to keep your faith up. Faith in the med staff, faith in whatever you believe in, that's what's going to get you, and him through this. If you're positive, he'll be positive. His recovery will be better. That's all that matters right now."

. o O Nevaren thinks "Flare! FLARE! FIRE! FLARE!"

. o O Nevaren feels incredible pain.

Dakin frowns deeply, as it all appears to fall in place. "Mr. Caeli, I want the registry of this shuttle. And I want those flares vouchered for evidence and sent to Sciences for analysis. Particularly for chemical composition and external DNA traces."

Poole would shove Takamura off of her if that were even a possibility, but rather than take the 1 in 1000000 odds that she could do that, she remains in his embrace. She is unable to look away from Nevaren, despite the effect his appearance is having on her. "Nevaren... Lie down... Please lie down." That followed by a sharp, "I -have- faith," to Jameson.

Treal rubs the back of her neck briefly, looking from the shuttle to the panel. "Sir, don't flares have magnesium in them?" she queries, eyes narrowing in thought. Again, she looks from the shuttle, to the blown conduit, and back. "Could it have been?" the last said more to herself, than anyone.

Sharei nods. "Right. Keth!" And with that, Dax starts pushing at the stretcher, heading for the door. Suddenly, he stumbles, letting loose a strangled cry. His hands fly to his pockets, digging through them for a slender airhypo while he wheezes something unintelligible in Betazoid. He has to try three times to get the hypo jammed under his chin, and he's immediately on his feet again, a little unsteady but plugging right along, moving to get the stretcher out to the turbolift.

Dakin says to Treal, "Some do, some don't. I want the field narrowed. If the pilot's our saboteur, I don't want him walking on a technicality."

Jameson speaks quietly, "I wasn't saying you didn't, Sir. I was simply saying that he needs to know that you have faith in him. Faith in him to come back to you." It's spoken with a sort of intensity that isn't born of anger, but from belief.

Talesin reaches up to press a hand against his temple, eyes becoming mere slits for a moment. Some days it just doesn't pay to be empathic. He stops when Sharei does, biting his lower lip before he manages to gain control of himself again, at which point, "Dr. Vala, it would be prudent if you took Nurse Sharei to the infirmary ahead of myself and Counselor Jameson. We can manage the stretcher..."

. o O Talesin feels intense, sharp pain and momentary panic.

Vala moves to Sharei's side, "Alright Keth, are you okay Ensign?" She queries to Sharei as she grabs hold of him.

Treal nods. "I'll get these samples to the lab right away," she says, looking towards Caeli. "Do we have a suspect yet? I can get teams started on sweeping the station for them, if we do." She looks towards Sharei at his outcry, and frowns. She, for her part, doesn't appear to be having problems processing any psionics going on. Of course, she doesn't have Sharei's problem, either. Attention returns to Dakin then, waiting for his okay, or other orders.

Caeli sticks his head out of the shuttle to report. "No name associated with the registry. Klingon Mercantile Ferry registered to Bak'TUR Ferries and Freight... jointly owned by Ferenginar and Qo'noS interests." He turns back, then, disappearing towards the flares.

Dakin nods to Treal. "All right, go ahead." Then a nod to Caeli, and another reach for his commbadge.

Dakin taps his comm badge, "Lieutenant Dakin to Lieutenant Havaris."

Sharei shakes his head. "I'm fine," he says. "That's why I brought my meds along. We gotta hurry, before he does himself more harm." And with that, he starts pushing the stretcher along again.

Over Dakin's comm badge, someone says, "Go ahead?"

Vala says to Sharei, "Ensign, hang back, they have it, you need to take a step back and walk with me. When we get there I'll have someone examine you"

Sharei shakes his head. "Jazna, I'm _fine_," he says. "This happens all the time, especially around emotional tension. I'm the Chief Nursing Officer, I need to be organizing things up there. My illness can damn well take a number."

It's a good thing Tak is a mountain of a man. Otherwise, who knows what Poole would do at this moment. Better to let him accompany her as the medics start to move Nevaren towards the infirmary. He flashes a look towards Jameson that says, "better let me handle this."

Vimes frowns as he hears the information about the ship's manifest. Chewing his lower lip for a few moments, he then clears his throat and asks the question that doesn't want to be asked but which needs to be asked, "Lieutenant Dakin? Shall we proceed with detainment and interrogation of all Klingons and Ferengi on-board the station at this time?"

Caeli walks down the ramp from the shuttle in time to hear that. "Don't you think that's a little extreme, John? We only have so many cells." To Dakin, he reports quietly, "Flares tagged for transport to the labs. Whenever you're ready."

Vala looks to Sharei, "And I am the ranking medical officer, however, I will take your word for this. I'm going to keep an eye on you though"

Into his comm badge, Dakin says, "Medical's taking Nevaren out now. Looks like we've got a bomber in our midst, Kusto. The EPS conduit was rigged for a localized explosion. Medical found traces of magnesium in Nevaren's skin and we found a cache of flares in a nearby Klingon shuttle. That plus Nevaren's only word upon regaining consciousness being 'flare' tells me we know who our suspect is. Or at least some idea. The ship's registered to Bak'TUR Ferries and Freight, a company jointly owned by Klingon and Ferengi interests. Recommend we get their employee records and cross-reference against the transient population."

Talesin just shrugs, "If he thinks he can do it, we shouldn't stop him." he begins leading the way out, pulling the stretcher along without another word, moving past the little bits of debris with more skill now that there's someone else to help steer the akward thing. You'd think three hundred some odd years later they'd have come up with something better than a flat board on wheels.

Dakin shakes his head to Vimes. "Too broad a search, and more likely to show our hand." To Caeli, "Get it done, Zip."

Caeli murmurs, "You're on the comm with Ops."

Dakin silences Caeli with a look.

Treal looks between Vimes and Caeli. "DNA traces will make our job much easier," she notes idly. "And cause less of a diplomatic stir. Nothing like racial profiling to dampen your relations."

Vimes nods to Dakin, "I'll be at the desk. Once you have the employment records, could you send them to me and I'll start going through our own database on them, sir?"

Dakin nods once to Vimes.

Jameson gives Takamura just an odd look, then goes to help the med team carry everything out. "I'm ready when ever everyone else is."

From Dakin's comm badge, Havaris says, "Understood, Rann. Stand by... We've got a development up here."

Into his comm badge, Dakin says, "Acknowledged."

It's doubtful that Takamura could truly 'handle this' when 'this' is Poole. But she bides her time again, leaning heavily into Hiroshi and walking along just behind the stretchers.

Journey has left.

Takamura smiles at Gwen, nodding. "Alright. I'll take care of that for you, Gwen. I'll call you when I've gotten back up here to let you know how Eisak is doing." He stands up, offering a hand to Poole. "And you don't need to apologize. Your reaction was understandable."

Poole takes Takamura's hand, standing then putting her lips to the back of said hand. "Thank you." Brown eyes searching brown eyes for but a moment, she releases the hand and vamooses from the infirmary. The amount of sheer willpower that this action takes, however, likely goes un-noticed.

The Infirmary is a flurry if medical personelle running this way and that in a strangly organized chaos. On biobed three, amid a number of nurses and medical technicians, is the heavily cindered body of Lt. Nevaren. His upper uniform has been cut away.. what was left of it that hadn't either been turned to ash or melted to his skin. The front of his entire upper torso, patche sof his neck, and parts of his face face are no longer pale white and scarred but now covered in sickening blackish-green blisters and swathes of 2nd and 3rd degre burns. Most of his once white hair is gone, only a few cinders remaining. The medical team has already started treatments.. Saline baths and sterilization fields.. a low powered dermal regenerator ready.

In the biobeds only a few feet away, two more figures appear in swathes of blue transporter energy. Churas and Gr'Lah, acommpanied by their own respective teams of starfleet medical officers. It is a busy night in the informary, that much is sure.

Not unnoticed by Hiroshi, smiles at her when she kisses his hand. "You're welcome." Turning about, Tak follows closely behind her. "I'll talk to you soon."

Vala says, "Okay Dex, get us surgical scrubs, and we'll get him moved to the surgical suite. Nurse Kelsa, the intabation tray please"

Sharei appears in front of the biobed, and immediately starts intebation, holding Gr'laH's forehead with one hand while he gets the tube down the Klingon ambassador's throat. "We need to start life support immediately," he says. "And surgery to repair the primary and secondary alveolic caveties." He lets Nurse Kelsa take over as he sprints for the closet, snatching out surgical scrubs for himself, Vala, and a few extras just in case. "I wish Loni were here," he mutters.

Poole heads out and into the clamour of the Mall.

Poole has left.

Takamura heads out and into the clamour of the Mall.

Takamura has left.

Vala finishes intebating Gr'laH expertly after Nurse Kelsa held his head, this time instead of hooking up a bag, Vala hooks him up to a respirator.

Jameson keeps up the scanning Nevaren's vital signs as he was instructed. "His vitals are still good, Keth. He's in some pain, but that's to be expected. Otherwise his signs are good though. Strong in fact."

Churas arrives from the mall, the infirmary's outer transparent aluminum doors sliding silently closed behind her.

Churas has arrived.

<CONTEST> Sharei contests his Medical Sciences (General Medicine) skill vs a difficulty of Moderate and Succeeds!

Vala puts on her sugical scrubs after getting them from Dex and moves over to the patient as the support staff set up

Gr'laH is now neatly intebated on his biobed, his respiration machine assisted. His chest rises and falls, though far more to one side than the other. His color remains stable at an unhealthy plae brown, though his as yet untreated wounds continue to leak blood over the biobed and his formerly stylish Klingon attire.

Talesin glances up toward Jameson, "Thanks." he murmurs, continuing the saline bath, "Things are steady over here. Just don't steal Marcus. I need at least one set of hands to operate that." a pause, "If things get much worse tonight, we may end up activating the EMH." he continues to bathe the wounds as gently as possible. How come Keth has to give all the sponge baths around here?

Jameson spares a glance for the Klingons being beamed into the infirmary. He narrows his eyes a little, looking at the Ambassador's wounds before turning back to his duty. Watch the vital signs, keep Nev's head stable, squeeze the squeezy thing. Squeeze it like something that is squeezy. It's almost like Mass. One hail mary, squeeze, check the vital signs. One our father, squeeze, check Nev's head.

Nevaren lays there, oblivious to everything going on around him. He stirs once or twice, moaning in pain from between dried and blistered lips.. but remains unconcious.

Churas moves in through the doors to the Infirmary, unlike her father. She walks toward the biobed /next/ to her father's and simply sits down on it, waiting and watching. Blood immediately begins to puddle next to her left hand on the bed, but she's more interested in watching Gr'laH.

Sharei struggles into surgical scrubs, just pulling them on over his uniform. "We need to get these vessels clamped," he says, sidling up to the biobed. "He's loosing too much blood."

Vala nods in agreement and begins the surgery

Talesin looks up, noting that there's someone bleeding on his nice clean floor. "Someone bandage up her hand." he orders, looking up to Jameson, "Go take a rest, one of the med techs can help." he reaches up, tapping on his combadge.

Talesin taps his comm badge, "Ensign Talesin to Lieutenant JG Malloy."

Over Talesin's comm badge, someone says, "Go ahead, Ensign."

Into his comm badge, Talesin says, "Dr. Malloy, we could use some more support up here. We've got multiple injured people, and quite frankly there aren't quite enough of us to go around, sir."

From Talesin's comm badge, Malloy says, "I just checked my Type II out, Ensign, and am en route to the infirmary. Now would be the time to tell me if we need additional gear from sickbay of the Aegis."

The station stands down from its alert status.

Into his comm badge, Talesin says, "No sir, we just need an extra set of hands, right now. Really badly. We've got three patients in here, and one of them hasn't been tended yet. Any help is appreciated, sir. Talesin out."

Talesin reaches up and taps his comm badge, ending transmission.

Malloy arrives from the mall, the infirmary's outer transparent aluminum doors sliding silently closed behind him.

Malloy has arrived.

Nevaren approaches Biobed 3.

Vala says to Sharei, "Concentrate on his blood vessels, I'll work ont he lung"

Jameson moves back from the squeezing and hands it over to the med tech. He moves to where Talesin is standing. "Are you sure there isn't anything I can help you with Keth? I'm okay, truly."

Sharei bites his lip, fumbling with clamps. His fingers slip on the Klingon's blood. "Come on, dammit, _close_," he mutters, his hands starting to tremble just a little.

Churas sits patiently on the biobed next to Gr'laH's, watching her father's care intently. Blood is pooling next to her hand on the biobed, but her hand itself actually doesn't appear to be injured. Closer inspection -- or, really, even a long glance -- would find her whole right sleeve wet with blood.

it's ben a long while now, since treatment has been started on Nevaren. His burns, raw and black-green travelling his entire upper body, neck, and face have been sterilized and cleaned, hydrated and medicated. At this point there is not much more that can be done execpt keep a close eye on him. His vitals are still strong. Anything else that is required, such as his eyes and the slight damage to his spleen, can be treated with medication until the proper surgery can be preformed later.

Vala manages to seal up the lung, which now inflates easily under intebation and the respirator. She says to Sharei, "How are you doing there?" as she starts to work on one of the intestinal wounds.

Sharei finally clicks the clamps together. "Got it!" he says, relief flooding his tone. "That's the last of the severed blood vessels." He moves down slightly. "The intestinal wounds are gonna be messy. But I think we can close them up easily enough."

Vala nods in agreement, "There aren't many here, so let's get them fixed up"

Talesin glances up to Jameson, offering a smile, "You can help with the saline bath, or you can treat Churas' hand. I'd prefer you help with the saline bath." in a softer voice, "I appreciate this, Marcus." he murmurs, tossing his head to get a strand of hair out of his eyes. After Nevaren's wounds are cleaned, Keth leaves the man's side and returns with a fancy schmancy twenty fourth century sheet. You know, the kind that doesn't stick to wounds. For modesty's sake. Whose modesty is another matter entirely.

. o O Malloy thinks "Holy....not Nev. And the Ambassador. Just. Great."

You here Vala make a noticable grrr as blood squirts out of the wound she is working on.

Gr'laH has good aim, right in the goggles. A warrior, even in unconsciousness.

Malloy enters the Infirmary at a jog, not quite with an 'oooraah' but it's definitely in a bubble over his head. Plop. There it goes. He didn't quite inspect this. Who's on first? Vala's first. "Doctor. Need any help...oh sh*t."

Vala hears Malloy, "Yes, Dax and I are doing surgery here, but we're okay, check on Keth's patient and if you can, extabate him, if not, hook him up to a respirator. I think someone is looking after the Klingon girl behind me."

No, no one's looking after the adult female Klingon. Churas has one bloody hand resting on her pregnant belly and the other one resting on the biobed, still bleeding and making /quite/ the mess. All the while, however, she is watching her father intently. It's likely she may have forgotten that she's bleeding.

Sharei shakes his head. "Klingon _warrior_, Jazna," he says as he reaches for a suction pump. Gently, he starts clearing out all debris from Gr'laH's gut. Mm. Smell that... whatever it was he had for dinner. "Churas is a Klingon _warrior_, not a girl."

Talesin looks to Jameson again, "Keep an eye on his vital signs. If there's any change, I want to know about it." and then he's leaving his patient's side to approach Churas, "Not a good idea to call her a girl when she can hear you, Dr. Vala. She's a Klingon warrior of great skill, and about your age, if I remember correctly." medkit in hand, "Could you please expose your arm? I need to treat your injury..."

. o O Churas thinks "If you let him die from those wounds, I will kill you both."

Vala continues her surgery, "Klingon female warrior, my apologies"

Jameson moves to help Talesin with the bath. He finally gets up to the big leagues out of the minors in counseling and his first task? Squeeze a bag. Second? Bathe the burn victim. Who said medicine was glamorous? He nods to Talesin, "Got my eye on it, Keth." He keeps busy with the bathing and checks the biobed readouts on a regular basis.

. o O Churas is no longer really in pain. Mostly, she's just annoyed.

Vala let's out another noticable grr as the wound gushes again

Malloy nods curtly, then heads over to Talesin. "Alright, Keth, give me the situation. What do we need?"

Cristobal arrives from the mall, the infirmary's outer transparent aluminum doors sliding silently closed behind him.

Cristobal has arrived.

Matters worsen at Gr'laH's biobed. With the continued expulsion of blood and the complications faced by his surgical team, there's little that can be done about his fast failing bloodpressure. His respiration continues unhindered, but his pulse soon enters ahrythmia before crashing entirely. Alarms begin to sound from the biobed, warning of arrest.

Churas doesn't even seem to hear that she's been called a girl. She's just going to stare at her father on the next biobed, as if she could just /will/ him to quit with this heart-failing business.

Vala notices the biosigns fall, she moves away, "Cortico stimulators, now!"

Talesin looks to Malloy, "He needs to get his breathing regulated by a machine, he needs dermal regeneration, and for gods sake, someone give the man some more pain medication, I'm getting a headache." a frown, and he looks to Cristobal, "Can you get her to expose her arm for me..." crap. Nevermind that. He abandons Churas' side, rushing to get the cortical stimulators, handing them to Vala.

Sharei pales. "Sacred Altha!" he gasps. He snatches up the cortical stimulators and get them pressed to Gr'laH's temples. "Start a plasma IV, stat!" he says. "Ten ccs cordrazine!" He looks up to Vala, waiting for her go to engage the stims.

Vala nods, "Clear" she says, when everyone clears, she activates the stims

Gr'laH's body lurches from the biobed at the stimulators, slapping back into place with a wet smack that spatters blood neatly across those attending. His heartrate jerk upwards and spike, settling into a shallow sinus. That was close, yes. Best finish this procedure quickly.

Vala whews at Gr'laH recovering, she quickly returns to the wound

Malloy changes into scrubs like noone's business, rushing over to Vala's side. "Marcus, if you please, take care of Churas and stop her bleeding...or at least slow it. Jazna, want me to take over for Dax or do you have it covered?"

Vala looks to Malloy, "Please, work on this wound, I need to start a chart for him and get off duty, it's been a long day"

Talesin raises his hand to Jameson, leaning against the biobed to take a deep breather. And then he's splattered with blood. "Someone remind me why I joined starfleet." he mutters softly, going to treat Churas, himself, now.

Jameson continues bathing away. La de da. Look at vitals. Bathe. He does seem to sort of half stop as he watches Gr'laH's body jerk and jump. He snaps to as he hears Malloy and nods to him. "Yes, sir." He puts down the bathing stuff and looks at the med tech monitoring breathing for Nev. "Please watch his vital signs if you see anything odd, please notify Ensign Talesin." He heads over toward Churas along with Talesin. "You love this and you know it."

Churas sits still, staring at Gr'laH's bed. Couldn't get her to tear her eyes off of that without a rather literal crowbar. The right sleeve of her tunic is now soaked with blood, and the wound isn't hard to spot once Talesin and Jameson approach. She's just a d'k tagh-sized hole in the shoudler of her tunic, and all the blood starts there.

Sharei shakes his head as he looks about ready to kick the biobed in frustration. "Damned intestines. Six of _everything_," he says. He quite honestly sounds about ready to cry. "Craig, I can't get these intestinal walls to close!"

Malloy nods to Vala. "Certainly, let me take over now. On my mark. Two. One. Mark." and with that, he not quite pushes Vala away, but takes over for her. "Let's see what I can do. Dammit."

Vala moves out of the way when the changeover occurs. She quickly changes out of her scrubs and discards her scrubs. She starts to head over to Nevaren, but remains a moment to keep an eye on Gr'laH as she starts on a PADD

Once more, Gr'laH's lifesigns crash to the floor, violet blood mixed with half-digested food oozing from his belly.

Vala looks up from her PADD noticing Gr'laH crash, she hads to the controls for the stims, "Clear" she says

Jameson notes the further difficulties with Gr'laH and looks to Talesin, "You go help them, or get Nevaren on a respirator. It's not been so long that I can't handle her wound." He then looks to Churas' arm and sees the injury. He gets a pair of scissors and goes to cut, then says just to prevent violence later, "I'm going to remove your sleeve, so that I can get better access to your injury." Then he attempts to cut the sleeve, hopefully without causing anyone to hit him.

Vala presses the button after everyone clears to no avail

Cristobal blinks in surprise as he stares at Gr'laH fighting for life. In tandem with Churas, he stares over at Gr'laH.

Gr'laH lurches from the biobed once more before collapsing back down with a wet smack, the biobed alarms continuing to scream.

. o O Churas thinks "FATHER!"

Malloy shakes his head, cursing. "Alright, everybody step back. Talesin, stasis field level four, asap. Vala, there's no use right now, Dax, stop the damn alarm, we KNOW he's critical."

Gr'laH's brainwaves begin to peter out as Malloy manages to erect medical stasis. A stop gap measure at best. The alarms chirp before silencing, and the Klingon Ambassador is denied his due, caught somewhere between life and the river of blood.

Yeah, whatever. That's Churas's basic reaction to Jameson, namely: she doesn't /have/ one. Jameson can cut away her sleeve and she just doesn't care. She's watching her father's face with a rather blank expression. The wound on her shoulder isn't bleeding too heavily anymore, just slowly leaking, but it's ugly, and right into the muscle. Fortunately, it doesn't involve her guts in any way. Just her shoulder.

Sharei takes a step back. "Computer, terminate medical alarm," he says, his tone trembling. He closes his eyes, drawing a deep breath. He murmurs under his breath in Betazoid. "It won't last," he says a moment later, looking to Malloy. "We need to think of something, quickly."

Vala whews as she watches

Malloy groans, jumping forward to stab like a madman possessed at the console of the biobed. "I swear to God. You will live, we aren't finished yet, Gr'laH." he curses, then, blessedly, the field erects. Dax, Keth, look after Churas. Marcus, back to Nevaren. Vala, type up what you need, I want you back in five hours the latest. And thank you, Dax, noone would have guessed. Nathan? A word if you please." With this, he steps over to Gr'laH again, pulling out his PADD.

Malloy taps his comm badge, "Lieutenant JG Malloy to Lieutenant JG Novairen."

Vala says, "Craig, the report is opened, I'll add the stasis field to it, ensure you add in anything you come up with so when I come on tomorrow I know what to work with."

Cristobal blinks as his name is called. Huh? Wha? /He's/ not wounded. He frowns and stands, making his way over to Malloy, unconcealed curiosity apparent on his face.

Jameson looks up from where he just cut off Churas' sleeve. He nods to Malloy, "Got it, Craig." He moves away from Churas and goes back over to Nevaren. Hey, at least he takes orders well.

Talesin sighs softly, biting his lower lip and leaning against the side of the biobed. "I think I may just faint." he murmurs, reaching up to massage his temple. He returns to Churas side and scans her with his tricorder, to make sure there's nothing more serious wrong.

Talesin scans Churas with his tricorder.

Vala walks over to Nevaren, to the med tech she says "change him over from the bag to a respirator"

Sharei fixes Malloy with a _look_. "If you'll excuse me," he says, his tone icy as he strips off his surgical garb, "I need to find a corner to be sick in." He totters away from the biobed, throwing the scrubs into the reclaimator, before he toddles his way into the washroom.

Malloy reaches up and taps his comm badge, ending transmission.

Talesin frowns, "Dr. Malloy, she's pretty bad, here. The wound almost goes through her shoulder..." to Churas, "I'm going to have to ask you to lay down." a pause, "She's lost a lot of blood..."

Vala yawns, "Craig, the infirmary is yours." She putters out the doors.

It's been a night of treachery and tragedy and in the end it has pushed the Medical team of s419 to exhaustion. The fate of Ambassador Gr'lah hangs somewhere in the balance as his battered and damaged body is suspended from life and death by modern technology. Our blood smattered heroes, succesful or not, continue to search for a way to save his life, as others on the station attempt to solve the riddle of the violence that has unfolded.
