Completed Report #284 (S'ral)
Mon Nov 11
Report Number: 284
Completed By: Balin
Opened By: Edwards
Department: CO
Stardate: 52772.6

Edwards added on 52768.5: Because of the rapid degeneration of Ambassador S'ral's condition, a team of Vulcan scientists were dispatched to the station earlier today in order to try to find a way to revert him to his wholly Vulcan self, or else we would be forced to fulfill his wishes and turn him over to the Siinogans. Shortly after the Vulcans arrived and commenced monitoring the Ambassador from the Bridge, the Ambassador somehow deduced that he had been deceived and began to spit some form of acid at the holoprojections surrounding him, disrupting them until the simulation was forced to end, and then began to lash out at the doors of the holodeck, causing large identations and coming close to breaching them, causing me to erect forcefields in the corridors, just in case. Afterwards, he began to enter into some sort of shock and appeared to be dying. Unable to secure accurate readings of his vital systems from the Bridge, a small team consisting of Lieutenant Tahlandi, Ensign Malloy, and a few security officers went down to make sure he was properly contained and retrieve some readings. When that was done, one of the Vulcans, a Doctor T'lan, advised us that they could see no way to help the Ambassador, and that we should turn him over to the Siinogans. Heading her advice, I took the Aegis out to the Siinoga system. On the way there, the Ambassador's condition began to improve. Upon arrival, scans indicated that the Siinogan homeworld had succumbed to massive tectonic movements and we could not locate any lifesigns. Yet the Ambassador insisted that his Goddess was on the surface, and Counselor Mira reported that she could feel an alien presence on the surface. After doing what we could to ascertain as to what the situation was on the surface, I ordered a security team to accompany Ambassador S'ral down to the starport, to make sure that he would be safe. After arriving, the security team contacted the ship and reported that they had lost track of the Ambassador in the hive. Because our scanners could not penetrate the hive, and I did not wish to risk our security officers in a manual search, and because Ambassador S'ral seemed to have some ability to locate his Goddess, I decided that it was best to allow him to find her on his own and leave him to his own devices, taking the Aegis back home.

Mon Nov 11
Report Number: 277
Completed By: Balin
Opened By: Ghorev
Department: CO
Stardate: 52772.6

Ghorev added on 52754.1: On or about Stardate 52753.6, while en route to deliver certain stolen and recovered Romulan cultural artifacts to the Romulan ship T'Kavrus on the edge of the Neutral Zone, the bridge crew of the Thomas Paine, under my command, received indication that the T'Kavrus had been destroyed. As our own EPS conduits were undergoing operational malfunction, we dropped to impulse to effect repairs, and were ambushed by a Klingon combat vessel, under command of a Captain named ToQ'ra of the house of the same name, claiming right by conquest to the artifacts. Though the Thomas Paine was badly crippled in the initial attack, I managed to buy us some time to make patchwork repairs and regroup with some internal tactics. Security section scattered the artifacts across various hiding places in the ship, while ENS Idisha made some manual repairs to bring some power back online. When ToQ'ra prepared to beam men aboard, our plan was placed in action: LTJG Foster vented plasma and portions of damaged hull, hiding the powering of phasers under cover of damage to the ship from the attack. ENS Turtledove then performed manual fire of all weapons at a weak juncture of the Klingon ship's hull previously marked for this tactic, and the Klingon vessel was destroyed in the cascade of explosions. I was incapacitated during the skirmish with ToQ'ra's boarding party, already sent across when the Klingon ship was destroyed, and LTJG Foster assumed temporary command until I was revived by Dr. T'sal after we had won the skirmish and regained control of the ship. At the time I write this report, casualties are still being determined, but in addition to my own injures, LTJG Foster, ENS Nilee, ENS Bela, and Ambassador K'net-Mauri were all among the injured. ENS Idisha is filing separate Engineering report on the damage. I invite LTJG Foster to append his own report regarding the period of my incapacitation, and will merge it to this report when he has done so.

Tahlandi added on 52790.2: After having a discussion with Ensign Va'tol, I have decided to allow him to serve as a RRT pilot on a part-time and temporary basis, under the condition that it does not interfere with his current duties as our Flight Deck Control officer. To that end, I recommend that a second officer be chosen to share these duties with Ensign Va'tol--perhaps Lieutenant Foster or Ensign Kentoz, who are both quite capable pilots--until another officer can be devoted to the job on a full-time basis. In addition, if ever a situation should arise where none of these officers are available, I will be more than happy to perform these duties when I am available to do so.

Surek added on 52823.3: Shortly after 21:00 hours on Saturday evening, the readout in the station security office registered a fluctuation in the unit within the quarters of Lieutenant (jg) Havaris Kusto. Having informed the security staff on duty to begin scanning for possible intruders, I went to investigate the possible intrusion on level eight.

Upon arriving at Lieutenant Havaris's quarters, I found him to be away from his suite; however, Ensign Medes and an Andorian visitor were both located within the personnel outfit. After requesting admittance, which was granted, I entered the room and conducted a thorough scan of the area and persons located within that sector and then scanning the unit, I was able to confirm the fact that there was no intruder personnel. Ensign Medes suggested that Lieutenant Jarnol, or another engineer, would be able to diagnose the malfunction. Engineering was informed and a remote diagnostic was conducted. The fluctuation that occured on the security sensors occured when a very mild energy burst ran through the auxiliary power grid as power was transferred from one system to another.

The engineer assured me that the problem did not damage the unit, and that such a malfunction would not happen again.

Attempts to locate the artifact were delayed by the battered condition of the Thomas Paine. As a result, our team was unable to deliver the Tome to the Romulan escort along with the other artifacts. Lt. Ghorev is organizing a team to search for the item once the Thomas Paine is sufficiently repaired. This report details the circumstances concerning the misplacement of the Tome.

Opened By: Dakin
Department: MED
Stardate: 52830.1

Dakin added on 52804.1: At approximately 2200 hours this evening, I was notified by Ops of a small object within arm's reach of the station's hull. I made my way to the nearest point of visual access, namely the Neutral Zone. I arrived to find a humanoid form in an EVA suit that the on-scene Lt. Golden identified as a model used 100 years in the past. A retrieval team consisting of Lt. Idisha and Ensigns Stewart and Rancion took the Cape Fear out to retreive the body. Upon docking in the station's shuttlebay. Drs. Haven and Lightfoot were able to determine that the body was that of a human male, deceased as of anywhere from 80 to 103 years ago. I have ordered that the body be moved to the infirmary and processed for autopsy, and Dr. Haven plans to place the body in a containment field to safeguard against contaminants not detectable and to preserve the body.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Haven added on 52830.1: The autopsy has been completed and the cause of death confirmed to be strangulation. Fingerprints where removed from the throat of the Dr. Rosemont. Other then the fact that they are human in makeup, nothing else can be determined. Death had occurred prior to Dr. Rosemont being placed within his EVA suit and sealed in. The suit was in proper operating condition and simply ran out of recourses, IE: air and power. The fingerprints on Dr. Rosemont's throat do *not* match his own so this was clearly not a case of his grabbing his own throat. This report will be posted to the general Fleet wide report so this one may be filed. Questions can be directed to me, thank you.

Opened By: Zian
Department: MED
Stardate: 52840

Zian added on 52789.4: I reported for duty in the infirmary last night at approximately 23:00. When I arrived, Lt. (j.g.) Nevaren was awaiting medical attention. Since I was available, I took it upon myself to undertake his treatment. He had sustained injuries to his left knee and ankle, including a sprain and some torn ligaments. Mr. Nevaren refused my offer to administer a painkiller, so I proceeded to correct the alignment of his knee and ankle, and applied deep-tissue regenerators to both joints to stimulate healing of the injured tissues. The low-level ultraviolet radiation produced by the regenerators left behind mild rashes, for which I prescribed an analgesic cream. I recommended to Mr. Nevaren that he take at least one day of light duty, to give the regenerated tissues a chance to strengthen and knit properly. I asked that he try to keep weight off of his injured leg as much as possible, and informed him that crutches or a cane would be provided for him, if he so desired.

During the course of my treatment of Mr. Nevaren, the biosign readings on the biobed of the Teirian woman, Jorelle, began to fluctuate wildly. I hailed Dr. Park to assist me, as I was unaware of her situation, and less qualified to treat her than he was. A stimulant was administered, in an attempt to revive her when her biosigns began to falter, but it was only momentarily effective. Her readouts flatlined at approximately 01:00 hours. Nothing further could be done to revive her.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Park added on 52840: As the body is no longer in medical custody, I'm closing this report. The official cause of death will remain as previously entered but due to an inderterminate drug reaction. A new standing medical order will be entered shortly to prevent this type of occurance in the future.

Report Number: 297

Opened By: Va'tol
Department: CO
Stardate: 52842.3

Va'tol added on 52786.8: On Stardate 52786.6 during my night shift at Operations we detected two unidentified vessels approaching the Station at full impulse. As the highest ranking officer on deck, I assumed the Command station. A proceedure reading showed us that the rear ship, a Rynkan vessel, had their weapons array locked on the front shuttle, which had absolutely no shielding system or way to defend itself. We tried hailing the Rynkans, but there was no response. According to protocol, Yellow Alert was activated. We hailed the first shuttle and it replied, requesting assistance. There were two passengers inside, a Rynkan that identified himself as Relvan and a Teirian woman, Jorelle. Their shuttle was severely damaged by the Rynkan vessel, but as they got closer to the Station the Rynkans ceased their persuit and returned from where they came. Ensign Nilee was able to lock on the couple and transport them safely into our Station. Ensign Turtledove used the tractor beam to keep their ship from crashing on our shield. Another attempt was made to move the unstable ship as far from the Station as possible, but we were unable to do so. The shuttle exploded dangerously near, and despite a light shake, there were no further damages to the Station. I asked Ensign Harker to contact Lieutenant JG Havaris at Station's Security, and he soon arrived to assume control of Operations as the higher ranked officer present. I then returned to my Ops console to perform routine integrity checks for the rest of the evening.

Tue Dec 17

Opened By: Duncan
Department: TIME
Stardate: 52859.5

Duncan added on 52855.6: Operation Arachnophobia: On stardate 52855.3 after all attempts at a diplomatic solution with the Merkhan race, who's temporal experiments and warlike nature have lead them to the decision to drastically alter the timeline. Said alteration would render nearly all resistance in the alpha and beta quadrants non-existent by performing several temporal incursions back four hundred years along the time line, to conquer the five founding members of the federation, along with Rigel due to its strategic position. With the Federation out of the way, the Merkhan's would have little problem conquering the reminder of the quadrant. Without the Federation, the Klingons will never develop into a more than a local power due to their never having gained access to the USS Ranger. So the only real treat the Merkhan's will have to face will be the Romulans, who's warp capability will be limited to their magnetic bottle/one shot warp drive advancements due to never having had contact with a warp capable Klingon race. Just for the sake of completeness it should be noted that the Merkhan's consider any living thing not of their kind to be food or a host for their young, even sentients. Because of this there is little common ground to be found on which to base a peaceful relationship. Thus, members of the Timefleet RRT were dispatched to the Merkhan homeworld to disrupt their attempts to alter the preferred timeline. Said disruption involves the insertion of the RRT one month before the current stardate to facilitate the destruction of their temporal sciences lab before they successfully complete their first temporal experiment. In doing so the team will also replace their experimental data with slightly altered data that will show that they were on the wrong track so to speak and that time travel is obviously a very dangerous thing to with which to meddle. Due to the possibility of the Merkhan scientists re-creating the experiments and the technology itself, they will be sanctioned with extreme prejudice. Their deaths will be covered by the subsequent destruction of the Merkhan temporal lab. Primarily due to Lt. Golden's skill in tactical planning, team assignment and the professionalism displayed by the team, the mission itself proved to be the proverbial cakewalk. After hitting dirtside, six members of the RRT and myself proceeded to infiltrate the installation where the Merkhan temporal lab was based. Ensigns, Turtledove and Stewart scouted ahead and took up a sniping and support position after dispatching two guards. Lt Golden and Ensign Devereaux, took up covering fire positions and also performed cleanup duty for the two guards that Stewart and Turtledove left behind. After the way was cleared, I along with Ensigns Idisha, and Takamura infiltrated the base with only minor incident involving two more guards who were quickly and cleanly dispatched. On reaching the lab itself the decision to use stun grenades as had been initially planned was discarded due to the unstable nature of the Merkhan's temporal matrix. The decision to make a frontal assault was made and proved to be the best possible solution. During the brief firefight the seven scientists responsible for the Merkhan temporal experiments were killed, as was the Merkhan political officer in charge of the lab itself. Also during the firefight an alarm was sounded though it appears to have been related to the temporal matrix's instability which had been exacerbated by the firefight, at which point Ensign Stewart neutralized the guard towers surrounding the facility in order to aid our exit. The Merkhan temporal science database was copied and replaced with the carefully crafted fakes along with redundant copies to insure that enough of it survives the "catastrophe". Said catastrophe was very artfully produced by Ensign Idisha's careful hands. After the appropriate charges were set, we exited the facility in short order, rendezvoused with Stewart and Turtledove and then proceeded to Golden and Devereaux's position for extraction. As a side note, it turns out that the Merkhan's temporal science was going along similar lines to early Iconian temporal experiments, though obviously not nearly as well developed. Further study of the Merkhan database may well shed some light on the paths that the Iconians took in the development of their own formidable temporal science. Please note this does not indicate that the Merkhan's have access to Iconian technology, merely that they were developing their own science along similar lines, there are notable differences in Iconian technology and what the Merkhan's had developed. This mission was exemplary, the loss of Merkhan life was regrettable, but unavoidable given the circumstances. M. Duncan, Timefleet

Report Number: 45
Completed By: Havaris
Opened By: Hrisvalar
Department: SEC
Stardate: 52872.8

Hrisvalar added on 52865.4: Yesterday, while I was just coming on shift (approximately 19:00 hours) at station tactical, the station was approached by a Son'a battlecruiser (designation Al'gethan) of enormous dimensions (see attached tactical analysis for details). After approaching the station the commanding officer, a singularly charming Adhar by the name of Kurnz, requested permission to dock for purposes of trade and visitation. Lieutenant Tahlandi (who was leading the duty shift at the time) allowed the Al'gethan to dock.

I was directed to recieve the Adhar and his guardsmen at the airlocks on Deck 21; upon requesting backup I was assisted by Ensigns Stewart and Devereaux - Ensign Stewart, being the present line officer, then took command of the party. The Adhar - a typically well-dressed and outwardly pleasant member of his race - and a small contingent of guards arrived without incident, although he did comment disdainfully upon the plain decor of Starfleet stations. He then requested to see the station resident that he had come to visit - this turned out to be the Nausicaan ambassador on station. The ambassador, when contacted, assented to see the Adhar; he also requested that the conference room on the ambassadorial deck be swept for listening devices (which I did, utilizing an isolytic resonance detector procured from replicator 227-31a on Deck 18 - there were no listening devices present). The nature of the conversation between the two is unknown, as we were asked to depart upon completion of the security sweep. Soon after his arrival, the Adhar returned to the Al'gethan and departed.

Tactical Analysis -- The Al'gethan is a singularly massive specimen of Son'a engineering. A detailed tactical scan conducted upon their approach indicated that the vessel outmassed even the Sovereign class of Starfleet vessels, with excellent ablative armor plating and with a potential shield strength similar to that of the station. Ship's weaponry consists of multiple heavy polaron arrays, capital-scale (approximately Type X or Type XII) phaser arrays, no fewer than five spread-capable torpedo launchers, and a weapons system that, while unidentifiable by the computer upon first scanning, is most likely a gravimetric or isolytic subspace weapon of the type the Son'a customarily employ. In short, it is a monster - and by my estimation quite capable of engaging either the Aegis or the Thomas Paine (or perhaps both) easily in a struggle. As Adhar Kurnz has promised further visits, I will attempt to compound this body of information with concurrent scans of the vessel.

In order to treat his telepathic handicap Ensign Sharei requires a daily regimen of the psi inhibitor hydrochloroparasine. Nilee was pronounced DOA by Dr. Haven, who immediately went to work transplanting the Nilee symbiont into the nearest available unjoined Trill volunteer, namely Ensign Merus himself. By Dr. Haven's account, the symbiont's transplant was successful. Lt. Nevaren has dump-copied the Dream Factory's holomatrices into Engineering's dedicated mainframes for examination without fear of electronic reprisal. Mr. Havaris is doing a forensic workup of any possible physical evidence in the holosuites. I had Lt. Golden provide Lt. Department: CMD
Stardate: 52897.8

Poole added on 52855.2: While on patrol as ordered on the USS Thomas Paine, we encountered the CTC Hernes, a Centauran trading vessel that had taken severe damage. My bridge crew at the time consisted of Lt. Park, Ensign MacAllister, Ensign Medes, Ensign Hrisvalar, and Lt (jg) Novak. After making a communications link with the damaged vessel, we attempted first to tractor beam it. Our attempts failed. I ordered a beam out of the critically injured in the aft section. Disturbances made that impossible without pattern enhancers. Captain Barsil of the CTC Hernes suggested we come aboard and attempt a repair of their impulse drive. Whilst we docked with the Hernes, I had the injured and most of the crew evacuated. Putting Ensign Medes in charge of an away team to repair the ship's propulsion mechanisms, I found her to be extremely competant. And, in fact, she was the one who prevented the Hernes from entering the no fly zone about the Anomaly, through her engineering expertise. I'd also like to add that Dr. Aaron Park managed to save many lives that, given a different crew, I am certain wouldn't have been saved. Ensign Hrisvalar managed to keep the lines of communication open during the entire rescue, something without which would have crippled our efforts. When the Hernes could manuever on it's own, I ordered the Thomas Paine to disengage and move away, so they would have plenty of room to move. During this entire operation, all of my bridge crew, and those who I sent on the away team performed well-beyond the expectations that were set out for us when we disembarked on this training and competancy voyage. We minimalized the casualties aboard the beleagered ship, prevented it from being destroyed, and kept it from entering the no fly zone. Outside of this one incident the patrol was uneventful.

Edwards added on 52897.8: Good work. The recommendations for promoting Ensign Medes and decorating Doctor Park for decoration will be taken under advisement.
