  There are more than a few notable differences between 21st century Earth and
  the 24th century universe of Star Trek, not least of all when it comes to the
  subject of religion and spirituality. Simply overlaying 21st century ideas
  and ideals about religion misses a great deal of what makes the theme of Star
  Trek what it is, and is disruptive to play as a whole. While it would be
  impossible to cover all of the faiths present or possible in the ST universe,
  this file will cover religion from a thematic perspective, providing an
  overview of major religions and philosophies -- and, more specifically, the
  views of those religions and philosophies toward other religions and 
  philosophies -- to aid in shifting perspective from 21st century Earth to the
  edge of 24th century Federation space. More detailed information on the
  religions overviewed in this file can be found in the racial files for their
  respective races and/or planets of origin.
