  We have limitations on what type of roleplay you can instigate as a player.
  This is to ensure that thematic, technological and continuity issues are
  enforced. It is not designed to hinder you, but to enhance the experience for
  all players on Anomaly.
  
  You are free to instigate any character-based roleplay you wish. This type of
  roleplay is your character interacting with another character. You are free
  to flirt, to annoy, to badger, to fall in love, to break up, to go crazy, to
  do just about anything you want to do as a free-thinking character.
  
  This freedom ends when external forces become involved. You can't pose for
  another character, or make up a random emergency. In instances such as these,
  you must use +pitch to pitch the story to staff first. We are very 
  accommodating to player-pitched ideas, and usually will help the player 
  develop something in the vein he wants to play in. But you are not given 
  unmitigated license to run plots - that is the job of the writers, director
  and producer of Anomaly.

  Characters may include "phantom NPCs" in their roleplay as long as the 
  figures remain vague and undefined.
  
  Example: Kallan is chatting with a few other science officers and enjoying a 
  working lunch. He waves to his friends as they enter the 'Zone.
  
  Characters may include "named NPCs" in their roleplay, as long as they are 
  not posing for said NPCs.
  
  Example: Kallan frowns darkly as he says to the Ensign, "An academy friend 
  of mine, Denise Leffertson, recently died in service during a Dominion 
  skirmish."
  
  Characters may *not* include "named NPCs" or "phantom NPCs" in any poses or 
  @emits, describing the actions of said NPCs.

  Permissible: Kallan says goodbye to his friends, who wave to him, as he 
  departs his table and joins the others.
  
  Also permissible: Kallan is approached by an Ensign, who murmurs to him 
  quietly. "Excuse me," he says when the information is passed. "Science 
  lab 1 needs my assistance."
  
  NOT permissible: Lieutenant Schlepp punches Kallan in the face, and an 
  all-out brawl starts between the two officers on the mall ring!

  We know some of you have important figures in your backgrounds that are 
  mentioned in Personal Logs from time to time, and we understand the
  importance of such figures. However, if you require actual named-NPC 
  presence, ask a member of the production staff, or a staff-run NPC, to do 
  the posing.
