This is an example Player Character that went through the regular character generation process and was approved by staff.
Please note, if you would like to see an example of a civilian character please see the Civilian Example.
The following is how Sander's +stats looked after character generation. Notice
how the statistics are fairly well balanced. There aren't too many merits or
flaws, nor are the stat levels too high. Anomaly limits the number of attributes
ands skills above three to one attribute, one skill.
The following is an example of a background and the level of detail that we
are looking for. This background displays a firm grasp for the character's
concept. It gives plenty of detail for Early Life, Teenage Years, and Adulthood
histories. Notice how the background takes into account the stats of the
character sheet above. A good example would be the Athletics ratings of Swimming
and Running, and how both of those sports appear in the background in Teenage
Years. All character's stats should match up with the background.
NOTE: This character is in the medical branch. Because of this they attend 2 years of Starfleet Academy and 4 years of Starfleet Academy College of Medicine (SACOM). All other Starfleet characters will only attend 4 years of Starfleet Academy.
===========================| Sanders's Background |===========================
CHILDHOOD: Brett Sanders was born 12 November 2349 to his father Sean Sanders
and his mother Jeanne Sanders. He has one older brother, who was 8 when he was
born. Sean Sanders was a technician stationed in Utopia Planetia. Brett's
early childhood was rather normal. Due to the small amount of other
children at the shipyards, Brett's main influence was his older brother. The
two of them spend much of their time together and form a tight bond. Outside
of his brother though he doesn't make many close bonds while growing up at
Utopia Planetia. He does however receive an excellent education from the
Starfleet teachers stationed there to handle children. When Brett is ten the
family moves from the shipyard to earth proper. This move coincides with his
older brother's enrollment into Starfleet Academy Medical.
TEENAGE YEARS: Once on earth, Brett finds himself without the compansionship
of his older brother. He does speak with Michael regularly but since they are
living in New York and Michael is in San Franciso they don't see each other
more often than once every week or two. Brett and his brother are both
attending regular classes so they can only visit outside of those times. For
better or worse Sanders ends up following in his brothers footsteps and begins
to concentrate on medicine. He was constantly exposed to medical information
and training and quickly took an interest to it. Like his older brother, there
is something about medicine and helping people that catches his interests. His
marks in school are exceptional and he gains acceptance to Starfleet Academy
easily. Overall Brett is a fairly well adjusted youth, and made friends
easily. His closet friends are Joffrey Lucel and Star McDonald. The three
attended school together and shared interests in swimming and running. In fact,
all three were on the local swim team. Those friends were left behind when
Brett left to attend Starfleet Academy. Try as he might Brett was unable to
convince any of them to enroll with him. They choose to remain in the New York
area and ultimately on earth. Much like this childhood, his teenage years are
average and for the most part plain.
ADULTHOOD: He enters Starfleet at age 18, in 2367. His grades were above the
class average, but not sufficient to land him on the dean's list. Along with
the average grades was the average impression he made on his professors.
Friends made at the Academy include Jeremy Quinlan, Eva Crooks and John
Ellington. In 2369 Sanders enters SACOM (Starfleet Academy College of
Medicine) to begin his medical training. His friends are also all in the
medical program and begin enrolling at the same time(though at graduation they
are assigned to different postings). At the completion of his SACOM training
he is assigned to the USS Destiny for his Cadet Cruise. He worked in the
infirmary assisting the medical staff on the ship. This role threw him into
the proverbial frying pan as he found himself in a ship on the front lines
during the Dominion War. All in all though he worked with a competent
department and got experience from his exposure. His tour of duty ended
successfully and he graduated from SACOM.
Once Brett graduates he is assigned to the USS Prometheus as a medical nurse.
During this period he worked directly under the ship's ACMO, Lt. Michael
Hurst. Lt. Hurst functioned as a mentor for Brett, teaching him the ropes and
bringing his skill set up to par.
In 2374 Brett was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade and full Medical Doctor.
His promotion however was accompanied by a transfer to the USS Sutherland. On
the Sutherland he began his role as Medical Officer, working under the ACMO
and performing his duties admirably. In 2375, just a year after the transfer
he is promoted to ACMO of the Sutherland with recommendations from the caption
and the CMO.
In 2375 he is severely reprimanded for failure to follow orders and conduct
unbecoming an officer. He is immediately removed from the ACMO role and
returned to regular Medical Officer duties. During a medical emergency on an
away mission Sanders and the CMO had a dispute regarding the treatment of
patients and how to proceed. Even though the two were friends the situation
escalated and Sanders ended up hitting the CMO.
Within two weeks of this incident Sanders is transferred off the Sutherland to
the USS Ulysses. Not surprisingly his reputation proceeds him and he receives
a cold shoulder from the medical staff on the ship. While Brett attempted to
work around this the situation did not noticeably improve. After a few months
Brett requested indefinite leave of absence to return to the earth. The leave
was granted.
He returned to earth in spring of 2376 and spent some time with his family.
After he tracked down his mentor, now Commander Hurst. The two have a series
of long talks regarding the situation. The result is some good advice,
including counseling. Brett enrolls in a counseling program and over the next
month receives assistance in dealing with the demotion and the fallout.
In the fall of 2376 Sanders asks to be reinstated for active duty. After
testing to insure his medical skills are still sufficient he is reinstated and
reassigned to the USS Ulysses. His greeting this time is no warmer or pleasant
but he simply forges ahead and worries about work. His focus on getting the
job done ends up winning over some of the crew, including the ACMO. The CMO
however remained obviously disinterested in dealing with Brett.
Sanders simply worked within the situation, not complaining or asking for a
transfer. Still, the transfer came as recommended by the Captain and CMO.
Lieutenant Brett Sanders is off to Station 419U to serve as a Medical Officer
Gamma.

The Description:
The following is an example of what types of details we are looking for in
the description. Try to avoid making comments like 'his eyes are windows to his
soul' and other such nonsense. What we want in a description is just that - his
physical appearance. It shouldn't try to make us feel one way or another toward
the character. That's what RP is for.
Anomaly uses a uniform descriptor, which sets a standard uniform on all
Starfleet PC's. Inside is coded rank and branch information.
Sanders
Sanders stands just under six feet tall with a lean, thin body. His
hair is light brown and curly and its cut about an inch and a half long. He
wears it pushed back and little messy. His eyes are brown as, just a few shades
lighter. His lips are slightly thin. He is well groomed, having recently shaven.
His face is well proportioned and balanced with a slighlty rugged look.
He is wearing a tailored, durable black jumpsuit over a blue turtleneck
undershirt. Along the collar is a single circular gold pip and a single gold
rimmed black pip. The shoulders of the jumpsuit are padded with a medium grey
ribbed material and a single blue stripe encircles each cuff. A stylized
silver chevron on a matte gold rectangle is attached to the upper left side of
the jumpsuit, just below the shoulder-padding. The legs of the jumpsuit are
fitted snugly over a pair of polished black half-boots via stirrups.
Sanders is carrying a Tricorder, a Combadge and a PADD.
The Service Record:

If this is a Starfleet character it also has their rank, position, branch and entrance and graduation year for the academy. This is information is all set by the character generation process.
You will need to add entries for significant events in your character's history. Significant points can include entrance, cadet cruise and graduation from the academy, assignments to ships or stations, promotion, reprimands, injuries and counseling sessions.
NOTE: This character is in the medical branch. Because of this they attend 2 years of Starfleet Academy and 4 years of Starfleet Academy College of Medicine (SACOM). All other Starfleet characters will only attend 4 years of Starfleet Academy.
