Personal Access Display Device (PADD)    

A PADD is powerful hand held computer, storing several billion pages of text and pictures on two isolinear chips. They have a high resolution touch screen and multifunction buttons. They contain a subspace transceiver that allows the PADD to communicate with other devices up to 40,000 kilometers away.
