Because the mission was intended as an opportunity for cross-training, LTJG Norvan was given acting command of the USS Cape Fear by the mission's commanding officer, LTJG Shamash (SRN #419-2764-10721). During the course of the planetary study, a distress call was detected near Tholishaa, emanating from the CTC Herne. 2378: Participated in a mission to recalibrate the interdiction buoys around Irdosia Prime, after a pirate raid disrupted their operation and eliminated a small task force of Runabouts stationed there to protect the system. The USS Thomas Paine was dispatched under the command of LCDR Dakin (SRN #419-994-99369), and upon its arrival, discovered the USS Baden-Powell and the USS Cormorant in a firefight with a refitted mining vessel and the USS Sunbari, a Runabout that was captured during the earlier raid. The Thomas Paine prevented the Sunbari from landing on the planet, but after two pirates beamed down to the surface, LCDR Dakin was forced to lead an Away Team to extract them before a Prime Directive breach could occur, leaving LTJG Norvan in command of the Thomas Paine during his absence. Proficiencies: LTJG Norvan is a disciplined officer with a great deal of natural ability. She has an extraordinarily gifted mind, and has demonstrated a remarkable talent for working with numbers, unraveling puzzles, and noticing obscure patterns, all of which serve her well as a science officer. Norvan is a skilled researcher, and is particularly known for her expertise in the realms of physics and astrophysics. She is also an amateur anthropology buff, and possesses a fair comprehension of elementary biology.

Deficiencies: Thus far, LTJG Norvan's primary weakness is a lack of experience; she has only been out of the Academy for two years, and while she is no longer green, she has not yet developed into a truly veteran officer, either. In ground combat situations, she is significantly less effective, but not to the point where she becomes a liability.
